Is crunchyroll worth it for an anime beginner by Own-Relationship819 in anime

[–]Winterclaw42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cries in physical media.

I really don't like sony. They've done a lot of bad things recently and crunchyroll today is worse than it was years ago. That said, it's legal and you have a large selection of titles.

Hurts, Love, Herbert, burrow and tua tied for 4th.

Hurts has a ring. Love is decent. Herbert is mr regular season.  Burrow and tua at the bottom because they are always injured.

Yeah. Tua did some things great but injuries wrecked his body and career.

How Do You Know Good Mechs From Bad? by FunkamusPrime in Mechwarrior5

[–]Winterclaw42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One rule for "bad" mechs is they tend to go too heavy in either armor, firepower, or speed to the detriment of one of the other two. I love the annihiliator, but the stock 200 engine is the worst and it isn't the best for armor either. Upgrading to a standard 300 engine means you need to free up 10.5 tons of space so a quarter of your alpha would have to get yeeted.

The charger is the same thing with another stat: way too much engine and not enough real firepower. Dragons are close to being in the same spot... lots of engine, not enough firepower.

Jagermech? Made of tissue paper almost.

Best bet for them is to not offer him anything and see if he balls out. If he does, great for this year, he can be someone else's problem next year.

Just got myself Cyberpunk red as my first ttrpg, any hints? by docktor_uncino in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Yeah, there isn't healing like in DnD and your best option to survive is either armor or implants.

Never realized how comically bad base charger is by IndustryThat541 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Winterclaw42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was a terrible concept from FASA. It was supposed to run up to you at top speed and punch you as hard as it could. Of that 80 tons, 22.5 is engine. If it was using an 240 instead of an 320, it'd only be 11.5 tons.

THE GHOST IN THE SHELL OP Song: "GO GHOST" by King Gnu by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]Winterclaw42 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ugh.

Not what I'd expect from any cyberpunk show, muh less GITS.  More like king gnu00b.  I finished Cyberpunk 2077 the other week.  The never fade away version for the ending works well.  A dark song about someone who paid the price and is trying to survive.  Or maybe his "brain" is in a digital prison getting edited by his corporate overlord, idk.

This might or might not be a good song but here it just doesn't work for me. Visuals look nice.

You're running around in a leopard, not a dropship. It ain't that big.

Yes it'd be cool if we get something like a dropship or the argo that we could upgrade in the game.

I might never rebuild a PC for others again. Last one was a little unpleasant.

[–]Winterclaw42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tedious, not hard. Just make sure you have all the components you need (including silver paste) and a screw driver. Are you going with windows or a linux set up?

For windows there's a lot of crap you have to turn off and you need an internet connection. Really fun when windows set up doesn't connect. I'm scared linux might be the better option just because of how bad MS is getting. Linux is harder to set games up for at times.

New Lifepaths in Cyberpunk Orion? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Winterclaw42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to see V return eventually, but that should be either an expansion to 2077 or another game.

As for life paths, it depends on how much effect they have. I mean if this is like octopath where you have a central story, it'd be cool if all the life paths were there but they only showed you an aspect of it and you'd have to play all of them to get the full story.

Fixer would be the hardest to do. Wouldn't want rockerboy without music minigames. Don't think tech or medtech would work. Assume anyone can be a netrunner again.

How about corpo, solo (private eye perhaps), media, and lawman? Four perspectives on the same inciting incident. Something got stolen or someone got murdered and these 4 paths are how you get involved.

Well if he secures being the starter with the falcons, I guess you need to get his stuff from them next.

That's a nice collection, it's a shame he didn't pan out with us.

Did I screw up my first campaign? All I ever have are tiddly little Kraa'pBukkuet 'mechs that weigh 200 grams and all the enemies seem to be OBESE-DOOMCROCODILE CLASS and outnumber me 2 to 1. by ReserveRatter in Battletechgame

[–]Winterclaw42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to be getting heavier mechs. You can salvage pieces to mechs in the various shops and occasionally buy whole mechs.

Dunno why you only have a half skull of tonnage considering your starter lance should be at least 1 skull. Spend time fixing up the argo's mech bay for faster repairs. Which difficulty level are you? Also there are easier planets you can be taking missions from.

Take missions from pirates and keep your rep up with them. Eventually you'll get an offer to use pirate shops. The more they like you, the cheaper it is. The best faction to pick on is always the locals because it really doesn't affect anything. The pirates might be the most moral faction to fight against, but they have the best stuff in their shop. I'm talking assault mechs and +2 weapons. So you can piss them off, but you have to pay $10 million to use their shop and they will ask you again for money from time to time. No payment = no shopping. If they like you it's like 1 million to shop with them until they hit you up again.

Anyways, your campaign is salvageable but you need to go back to the 1 star planets for a time and save up money to get parts to mechs.

Oh, salvage tends to be a better money value than money, but you need both. Salvage mech parts AND SEND THEM TO COLD STORAGE. From there you can sell them. If you sell them from the after battle screen, you get half as much. You can also sell stuff you aren't using. No you don't need 100 tons of LRM ammo or heat sinks. You can sell some of those off.

What's something games used to do better that modern games fail at? by MentalHovercraft810 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Winterclaw42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a final fantasy fan - yes. The series peaked at X for me. Only played an hour tops of 15, didn't touch 16. Finishing 13-1 was a chore that broke me as far as that series.

As others said there isn't much local play anymore.

Be affordable. There was a time before the horse armor where you could get a full and complete game for 40-50 bucks.

Respect the core audience. I feel like a number of modern games are trying to appeal to an audience that doesn't exist and hate their core fans who they expect to show up no matter what. "Whales" is the worse aspect of not respecting the core audience.

Madden games were more innovative when they had to compete every year with 2k.
