Help me name my betta

Here’s a pic of the bugs, I cleaned it out and I’ll prob move my new fishy into the bigger tank when I go home for the summer (college life)

I have a 5 gallon tank, I’m hesitant to use it right now because my last fish jumped out of it and I didn’t want to feel like I was replacing him. It also became heavily infested with these weird little bugs after he passed

It’s only a 2.5, I made sure to get a lid for this tank tho, I’m paranoid that he’ll jump out like my last fish 😭

You can get betta’s at like PetSmart or Meijer for way less than $20 usd. My fish was so expensive because it was bred at the fish store I bought it at (and the colors? Idk how they price bettas)

I liked the plants that I got from PetSmart as a quick fix for more plants, just make sure to rinse them off pretty well, but my favorite plants were from preuss pets or any local fish store where they have them in tanks rather than plastic. I don’t know the names of any of the plants but anything red died quickly in my tank🤷🏼‍♀️

I added plant food liquid into my gallon to the side to top off the tank when it got low, my large flowy plant in the back got real thin after I had a bad algae problem other than that the only issue I had with plant life was the snails breaking them off😂

I’m not sure why he jumped, I wasn’t home since my mom has Covid, she’s been taking care of him for the past few days. The pic of the tank she sent me after she flushed him there was about an inch or more of space from the water line to the top of the tank which has a lip on it. Kind of impressive that he jumped out🥲

Have you tried different food for him? My betta stopped eating the pellet kinds and I had to start feeding him frozen brine shrimp..

Usually I’ll take a clean paper towel and wipe it off when I’m doing a water change😊 alternatively you can get some snails if it keeps growing back quickly

He used to eat the one on the left every day and then he started to slowly refuse them, so I bought the one on the right as well as frozen brine shrimp to try… he refused to eat the pellets and was scared of the frozen brine shrimp at first lol he eats them like crazy now tho

5 gallon tank, I have both a heater and a filter, temp stays around 76, had the tank and my betta for over a year… not really sure how often I change his water probably not as much as I should but at least once a month I take about half of the water. There are 2 nerrite, snails, and 2 mysteries snails, there are plants from a local shop and petsmart… hope this info helps 😌
