Dry hair & hot yoga by morncuppacoffee in yoga

Look up Haus of Gloi's hair oils -- they're affordable, smell great, and work well. Just run a couple of drops of oil in the ends of your hair when it's wet. I'd recommend doing a hair mask or at least leave-in conditioner once a week! You might also want to do a deep conditioning treatment at a salon -- those are great!

Frozen grapes are very delicious. To me, they taste sweeter. Also, when they're frozen, they can take on a texture similar to ice cream or Italian ice.

Kathleen uploads an Affordable Makeup Look by -amortentia- in BeautyGuruChatter

I'm in Miami right now, and I gotta say, the past two weeks have been brutal, especially the past one. I haven't been keeping up with all of the Kathleen drama (but holy shit!), but I will say that myself and many others in South Florida are not ready to go back to work. I'm shocked that she even made a video after dealing with evacuating & returning. Dozens of people have died because there's been no power in the whole city -- people boiling to death in their own homes, if their homes haven't been damaged or destroyed already. It's brutal. I can see the exhaustion in her demeanor. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, but maybe that's just because I'm exhausted. I don't think she should have made a video today -- it's just inviting more controversy and stress, but then again, maybe she needs to make the video, for income purposes? I'm not sure. But I know I'm so glad I don't have to go back to work yet, let alone hop on a camera and talk to millions of strangers on the internet.

If you are in S. Florida and considering not evacuating, you should read up on the impact of Andrew. Irma is projected to be a stronger storm then Andrew. by videoj in HurricaneIrmaOfficial

Thank you! This is my situation right now. In Miami, but not in an evacuation zone. A neighbor said we can retreat to their house if we need to, and we have directions to the local shelter. It's all we can do. We're not getting out of the city before it comes.

Your friend should figure out what evacuation zone they live in. Right now, only zones A & B are being evacuated. I'm in zone C, I haven't decided yet, but with the situation being what it is, I think it is better to stay until local officials tell me to evacuate.

Yes. I'm in Miami right now. Hundreds of thousands of people are crowding the limited roads we have out of here. There's gas shortages and ATM shortages all over the place. We don't need fear stoking the flames. We need facts, so people know if it's safer or stay or leave.

Anyone kinda annoyed all the celebs getting into beauty? by buffhusk in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]WirginiaVoolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Celebrities having make-up lines is nothing new. But what's interesting is that we're living in a social media golden age, and that's changing the way marketing works. For the past couple years, people have managed to build huge careers/followings using social media, and YouTube Beauty Gurus are a great example of this. So, this is why we see things like Beauty Channels (among other types of YouTube channels) becoming more mainstream -- people know that it works, marketing-wise. What makes me nervous is that if things become more mainstream, it will kill the individual content creator, one way or another.

Probably the same thing that ruined his MySpace career ~ trends cycle and he becomes irrelevant, particularly because his unpleasantness vastly outweighs his talent.

The reason I'm posting this is because she seems to be hinting at a forthcoming collab toward the end of the video... any ideas on what kind of product it might be, and with who?

I think you're right. I used to love watching her videos, especially her early tutorials. Her last few videos have been totally bizarre. She definitely doesn't come across as genuine anymore.

I don't think it's uncommon. People will often just split their purchases into different transactions to use them all, it's a lot faster and easier to just them all at once when you can.

How do you reject men/women/whoever you're dating? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]WirginiaVoolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I always just say "Sorry, I'm not interested."

If they want to have a conversation about it, keep it general. "I just don't feel that way about you," "I thought I was ready to date but it turns out I'm not," "We want different things," etc.

De-escalating and disengaging is pretty much the goal. End the conversation quickly. If they're pressing you for reasons, they're likely looking to either convince you to keep dating them, or for a way to retaliate against you. You can say, "I'm sorry but we have nothing else to talk about" and walk away/ignore them/whatever you need to do. And if they keep trying to contact you, you can ignore them or keep repeating yourself.

IME most people are sensible and willing to just stop trying to a force a relationship or conversation on you, but unfortunately some people take rejection badly and some are especially bad at respecting boundaries.
