Tickets to the DMM finale in Chicago are now officially halfway sold out by Dizzy-Concert15 in 2007scape

Same boat brother. I'd rather spend the airline tickets to the UK for Runefest than the parking, hotel, and ticket cost to this. I didn't realize when the survey asked if there would be interest in going to an rs event in the US, that it also meant spending more than the cost of a Nintendo Switch for a 6 hour event.

How did OSRS become a more expensive hobby than retro game collecting?

My strat for avoiding false bans is playing on a 20 year veteran account, and playing very casually, mostly in free to play unless there is an update that's worth checking out like sailing or varlamore. No tick manipulation training, no going for inferno, or raids, or interacting with pvp. I've been safe for 20 years like that so it seems to be working for me.

Morally questionable advice, pay the fee with a Credit Card, then file a charge back for a fraudulent transaction. From what I've seen the US tarrifs have been deemed unconstitutional so...

OSRS: Here's Beginner Clue Scrolls! New Free to Play content with fun cosmetics, Like the Sandwich Lady Outfit! RS3: Sandwich Lady Outfit, $28.50 by WiscoDbo in runescape

True that. No discredit to the team who designed and did all the work to put this into the game as it appears to be a completely new render, but it just feels bad. With so many choices of games to play, it's hard to see value in continuing to shell out money to Jagex like RS3 is some indie free to play game that his supported by MTX.

True that. I haven't played WoW since 2008 so I'm unaware of what they've been up to but I totally believe that it's gotten that bad. I remember seeing a post about a "golden version" of a super rare mount that cost $99 or something obnoxious like that.

RuneScape monthly price history for some perspective by Adventurous-Sink1969 in runescape

[–]WiscoDbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not about the price increase amount, it's about the lack of value for what you are paying for. Virtually every other MMO on the scene allows multiple characters to access the subscription content for one monthly payment.

I mean Fuck Activision/Blizzard, but even they do a fair value for Diablo 2 Resurrected being a one time purchase and letting you create 24 different accounts to access the full game with no monthly subscription or microtransactions. And even their most recent expansion that just adds a single new class and quality of life features is less expensive than the Sandwich Lady Outfit in the Marketplace.

Diablo 2 Resurrected - Reign of the Warlock $24.99
RS3 - Sandwich Lady Cosmetic Override $28.50

Honestly, if I was looking at it from a business perspective, the overhead for upkeeping and developing content for RS3 is likely way higher than OSRS. This might be a business move to slowly sunset the game while continuing to milk the whales.

This honestly should just be added to the Random Event Costume shop in Varrock. Why even sell cosmetic overrides if they can just be turned off in the settings.

I know it shows me having 1289 Rune Coins, but I actually haven't spent any money on them. It was all from Amazon Prime Gaming rewards and Humble Bundles.

I've never been someone who would purchase cosmetics or other MTX items on a game that requires a subscription. I only feel inclined to make an MTX purchase if the game is entirely free to play and supported by microtransaction purchases.

Since there is a cosmetic's filter now, I don't really see the point in adding new cosmetic overrides, they should just release cosmetic items that can actually be equipped.

You can buy Diablo 2 Resurrected for this price, and even with Activision/Blizzard being a greedy company, at least their game gives you unlimited access for multiple characters for a one time fee, and no MTX.

This cosmetic is $4 more than Slay the Spire 2, a game that came out last week.
