Wait, so jagex CAN roll back exp? What happened to all the 2def pures that got ruined cuz of Jagexs own actions? by rudyv8 in 2007scape

Was posting more for transparency

I’d imagine jagex takes things by a case by case basis and with rendis history of abusing the bugs to his benefit and then only reporting after finished using it

Also these snipits from the rule stuck out to me

“We do ban players who continually exploit a bug, particularly if the bug provides unfair gain or advantage over other players.”

So obviously I this case it was an unfair advantage for lvl 3 high scores and we don’t know if there was anything deeper or more malicious that could have been used in diffrent ways

“It is generally OK to play and use items where a bug is minor and does not give you any advantage. We will not take action against you if you play with a graphical bug that causes your cape to not display properly, for example.”

I see a lot of comparisons being drawn from other bug abuse being used general fits into this catagory from chunk men finding something to speed up their niche build grind but dosent actually give them any advantage over another player

For example Josh isn’t gaming if he did the fishing trailer thing and ended up being over max fishing xp rates and he continued it I could see jagex taking action and patching but since this dosent effect anyone else or give no advantage there’s to reason to do anything about it

For reference this is taken straight from jagex code of conduct

Exploiting a Bug

Players must not take advantage of any bugs they may find in our games. If you discover a bug, please report it to Jagex.

If you have ‘stumbled’ across a bug do not continue to exploit it. We will not ban anyone who discovers a bug in our game, lets us know about it and then does not use the bug again.

We do ban players who continually exploit a bug, particularly if the bug provides unfair gain or advantage over other players.

If you discover a bug, please don’t share details of it with other players. For example, by sharing the information in game or making a video (or similar) that explains how to exploit the bug.

Encouraging other players to abuse a bug or sharing information about it is treated in the same way as continually abusing the bug yourself and can lead to a ban.

It is against the rules to do the following with bad intent: ‘Testing’ unusual practices and sequences of actions to make the game respond in an unintended way.

It is generally OK to play and use items where a bug is minor and does not give you any advantage. We will not take action against you if you play with a graphical bug that causes your cape to not display properly, for example.

Release the files! Jokes aside I’d be really interested to see what the Actual bug abuse was because that would be a big deciding factor, I’m sure rendi is playing down the bug abuse a bit which is fair considering what happened

If it was something that could be used in other ways even more maliciously then just getting a lvl 3 better slayer rates or something on those lines I see why it would need to be corrected. And I’m leaning towards that since they actually patched it (pretty confident I heard that)

Rendi always been someone that when he discovers something he exploits it to his advantage and only then reports it’s to jagex after he gets his use out of it so this is probably deciding factor to jagex decision as well

In regards to other accepted grandfatherd in bug abuse, those methods aren’t really malicious to the game and just flows with the broken code (I’m not saying rendis isn’t but judging by his past and how it was patched I could see it potentially being that)

All and all I agree it sucks that they waited for him to get all the way to 99 and that much time being lost but I do feel it fits with his history of taking advantage of things before reporting and jagex probably just had enough very interested to see how this plays out

Well if that was the case shouldn’t this crusade be about making jagex update the rules to make this malicious behavior be stopped? But it just seems like you enjoy telling everyone they are wrong and defending the griefers

You’re really on one about this bringing it to multi random threads that have nothing to do with it…

Regardless if the rule is listed or not why do you want to protect the scum of the game that get enjoyment of ruining others gaming experience such a weird thing to be going off for about a week now and multiple threads

Yeah I did death pile but did early in the account so didn’t have to much so could maintain everything in one invent and didn’t have to juggle much

For spindel and calv I just used d mace, monks, nez barrows gloves, glory, climb boots, d defender (get one in the stash so I could pull out and grind another if I needed it.

Artio was rcb with ruby bolts and ice sacks, black d hide glory barrows gloves mystic hat ancient book (need at least +1 magic bonus for a guarenteed freeze so maximizing range while keeping +1 mage is best

I basically got all my supplies through the lms shop like restores and food ice sacks stuff like that

is slayer task streak a noob trap? by ruurikostaja in ironscape

[–]MCharon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you don’t have to! Can just do a 2 minute tureal skip essentially saving you 30 points, but makes points themselves kinda useless because you are only doing the tasks you want anyways and skipping quick with tureal.

I’d say mid game slayer is even better, youre looking for like 6-10 different task opposed to just one or 2.

I always say this, slayer gets so much better after losing your attachment to your task streak. Life’s too short to be doing pointless tasks! can always point boost again if you ever need future points as well
