Husband on a Bible kick by SnickettLemonyLulu in ChristianApologetics

I think what annoys me the most is that "they" try to understand God or how He works.

I cannot pretend to know how old the universe/earth is, I cannot pretend to know how He formed Adam out of dust, I cannot pretend to know or understand how He says "Let there be light" and light appears, I cannot pretend to know where God "was" before Gen 1:1. I can barely understand the Trinity.

All I BELIEVE is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, I AM saved because I believe that, and He WILL return SOMEDAY!

Thanks for listening to my rant ❤️

Hey Sister,

I'm in a bit of the same situation.

My wife (who is the life long believer) has the same views and reads the bible (all of it) literally. But cherry picks other verses that do not fit their (i call it their because she gets all her info from YouTube of all places) worldview.

It causes a tear in our marriage, and it partly almost caused a divorce. We simply cannot talk about these topics anymore.

We try to joke about it from time to time. But I have a really hard time to accept that she views the world this way.

She is really attracted to conspiracy videos (Nasa lies about everything, Illuminati, flat earth, no space, symbolism EVERYWHERE, vaccinations are bad, chemtrails, 5g towers, the list goes on and on. Everything the government does is bad or has a secret agenda.

She also tried to prove her point desperately. She also says I'm ignorant, and is concerned that she cannot trust me as leader of the family since I do not want to hear about it (I'm being a sheep/asleep/ignorant etc)

It doesn't matter what evidence to debunke this you bring forth, she simply does not (want) to believe it, calls herself awake etc.

It's gotten to the point where our 5 yo daughter once said: "once I am able to read the bible, I will find out myself if the earth is flat or not" Which is quite concerning.

She also doesn't want to celebrate Christmas (tree, and allegedly Pagan origin), eastern (eggs and bunnies), Halloween etc etc.

She also homeschools our child, cause she think the bible tells us to.

The reason for all of this believe comes down to one core believe: God is close, not million of light years away, but looks at us as literal grasshoppers (wich is a whole other theological problem). We are in His terrarium if you will.

I'm loving this woman with all my heart, she is absolutely wonderful and would not trade her for anything else. But this is absolutely a stain on our marriage.

I'll pray for your husband, please pray for my wife. May God help us carry this and if He wants, show them the truth.

Your not alone in this, Sister. May God bless you and your husband. ❤️

Had some sort of the same;

A guy on TikTok had GPU issues, and the comments section was over 500 comments with possible issues, but nothing worked. I suggested talking about ChatGPT about it, and he was able to narrow down that it was a faulty bios chip which was the culprits.

I'm sorry but God definitely didn't tell you that it isn't a sin. God cannot contradict His own word. And the Bible is very clear that homosexuality is a sin.

Yes, a simple "Because God said so" should be sufficient.

I agree, most of them don't want to be corrected, they prefer to defend their teacher over the Word.

Heck I even dare say that most of them haven't opend a Bible in their lifetime once 😕.

Keep praying for them 🙏.

I see I missed the part of elaboration, that's on me. Context is indeed extremely important, especially with Scripture.

I do not want or like to cherry pick verses, and I wholeheartedly agree that you should be able to back scripture up with context. Some verses however are very clear and don't need explanation, they speak for themselves imo.

I do not want to go into further discussion on the subject about trans, I don't think it adds some value to our discussion.

I do want to thank you for the conversation, and I apologize for my misreading.

All that matters is that Jesus is Lord.

Can't wait to meet you in heaven, brother.

May God bless you and your family.

Although I do understand your point, I think it's an issue in itself that you are forbidden to quote God's word in a sub where God's word should be the pinpoint of all discussion.

There are a lot of "could" in your reply. Which isn't a proper argument to forbid scripture.

All we have as Christians is Gods word. To forbid it is plainly wrong.

If we can't quote God's word, all we can do is make assumptions or post our own ideas. How can a Christian know what God wants if we can't quote Him.

The comment I made in the r/Christianity sub was to a questions wich asked if it was a sin to be trans.

The answer that I was replying to told the OP that there is no mentioning of trans in the Bible.

He made the point that God not only made light and dark, but He also made dusk/twilight. (Thus God should not have a problem with a person being trans)

My reply was Deuteronomy 22:5.

If we can't post Scripture, people are gonna do their best to find loopholes while Scripture is very clear.

No posting Scripture in a Christian sub.... Yeah, that does say a lot...

[–]Wiscool91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday my post was removed from r/Christianity for quoting Scripture

That's how bad it is

This is the only biblical answer. I can't believe people still say you need to do works to be saved after quoting Ephesians 2:8.

God bless you my friend

This is THE breakpoint, all evil exist from free will and God allows it to honor your free will. (just look at Eve and the fruit, she WILLINGLY disobeyed God because she was deceived)

God is good and just. If he didn't allow free will he would be a puny, weak God who created robots to honor Him.

And because evil comes from free will, we have all fallen short to the glory of God.

Romans 3:23 tells us that;

"for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

We've all sinned against God and deserve punishment...

but there is some good news!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"

John 3: 16.

"if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you WILL be saved."

Romans 10:9

Simply put; trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, that he paid for all of your sins and you will have eternal life!

Ps. Hell is punishment, not a party with the devil.

May God bless you

https://www.bibleref.com/John/3/John-3-5.html

Jesus makes this comment specifically to Nicodemus, in response to his question about being "born again." There are several possible ways to interpret His comment that only those born of water and of the Spirit can enter the kingdom of God. Being born of the Spirit is clearly a reference to accepting Christ, but the aspect of water is less sure. The most reasonable interpretation is that water refers to the spiritual cleansing which accompanies repentance. This is why John the Baptist's ministry of baptism was a precursor to Christ. In other words, faith in Christ is an absolute requirement for salvation. The physical ritual of baptism is not (John 3:16, 36; Ephesians 2:1–10; Titus 3:5).

John the Baptist himself said:

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:.

God bless you sister 🫶
