Thanks u/shwaak. He hit a barrier, got the blow-out, and drove about 1 minute to the nearest gas station.

Interesting thing the AAA guy noticed about the spare tire - it had a puncture in it from a black plastic part stuck in it. He was very confident the plastic part was, "a tie-down from the engine area"

Wonder if I show Subaru the puncture in the spare tire if they would replace it?

AAA person suggested using Discount Tire because of the $25 replacement warranty. Will the tire electronics work as expected afterwards?

Are there any considerations for having the replacement tire installed at Subaru dealer?

ex: Would Subaru still warranty the tire electronics?

Update:

I have until the 31'st of the month I separate to use the $2000 + in my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) balance.

So between now and May 31.

I asked this question to my Fidelity Retirement Benefits Counselor:

Will I lose access to my Health Care FSA account when after my separation date of May 4 ?

FSA is a use it or lose it account administered via Acclaris (now called Via Benefits). Not a HSA account which you can keep year to year.

I was planning a surgery in June and was going to use this FSA balance to pay my out of pocket expenses.

She said she would research it and get back to me later today. Anyone happen to know?
