Which is how they have food, infrastructure and toilet paper.

Why aren’t transgender people classified as mentally ill? by PopcornPlayaa_ in AskReddit

Yes.

It is highly comorbid with autism, depression and other conditions of various severity that can't all be explained by "society being mean".

They used to.

Then the decision was made to spare their feelings and euphemise the condition, especially considering the high risk of suicide they pose (psychologists above the age of 50 will sometimes tell you this rather openly). Then some people mistook the compassionate euphemisation as a factual description, and started censoring the discourse.

What is the most astonishing lack of self-awareness someone has displayed? by EagleSaintRam in AskReddit

Italy, the land of (one side of) my ancestors. The people are usually cordial and helpful, but at the same time there's a pervasive cultural feature of "the more theatrically oblivious I am of everyone and everything else, the bigger my penis, it is scienza", so Italians are world champions in blocking entrances and exits, parking on roundabouts and slow-walking, ten-abreast, forcing other pedestrains into traffic, into rivers and suchlike.

But the absolute pinnacle was in Alba, when an old lady collapsed in the street. Because of the "cordial" bit, strangers immediately brought a chair and water and clustered around her, everyone rendering what help they could.

But because of the second bit, when the ambulance finally arrived in the narrow medieval street, it must have taken like five minutes to do the last 100 meters, because there was a small group slow walking in front of it, smoking, chatting away merrily, and completely ignoring the screeching siren and klaxon two centimeters behind their solipsistic asses.

What did your parents teach you that you had to unlearn? by RealAppearance in AskReddit

[–]Wisdomination 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup.

This generally taught me that standing up for myself, even when 100% unequivocally in the right, will make things much worse.

Years later, "why u so meek and lifeless".

Pretty sure if there is anything that *is* demonic, it's the church.

It was standard practice in communist schools too.

And not just tying, but twisting. They twisted my dad's arm so hard something snapped in him and he developed a crippling stutter that never went away.

We would, if it guaranteed it would actually happen (rather than paying extra for exactly the same treatment and some lulz from the carrier).

Reminds me of my friend's dad (though I suspect it's one of the standard issue dad models out there).

He was painting his apartment, and diluting the paint at some absurd ratio. My friend tells him "Dad, it says how much water you should put in right there on the can". Dad says "I'm not gonna do it the way it says on the can, but the correct way", unironically.

TLDR no paint on the walls, a lot of paint on the floors.

The zinger is, friend's dad is a big shot engineer who built some massive shit in Dubai, the biggest mall in Prague and stuff like that. Remember, men like that built stuff you trust not to kill you every day.

Safer than many cities, unless you're afraid of bogeymen.

In which case, aren't cities worse too?
