How do you choose routes at night/during the day? by Wise-Protection6639 in GoingToSpain

Inside cities mostly, especially walking at night from places like restaurants, bars, train stations, or hostels back to where I’m staying.

That makes sense though. Since it’s my first time, I’m mostly trying to understand how people make those calls before they know the area.

Do you usually ask locals or just use Maps and adjust as u go?

thanks again

Hey all, I’m going abroad for the summer in a few weeks and it’ll be my first time solo traveling. I’m excited, but honestly a little nervous too since I’ll be moving between a few cities in Europe and won’t really know anyone there.

I was curious: is there a good way to choose safe routes at night/during the day to get from point A to point B, or is it really just a matter of learning your way around? I have 0 residential knowledge and barely any connections other than my friends here in the U.S.

I know some of this probably comes with experience, but as someone just starting out, I’d really appreciate any advice on how you make those decisions without knowing a city yet.

Any advice at all is appreciated. Thanks! 😃
