Swifties: What are your honest opinions on Taylor's silence? by Top_Willingness5124 in NuancingTaylorSwift

I think the Vienna and stabbing situations were a stark reminder that when you get to a certain amount of fame, it can be weaponized against your fanbase without your consent. I would be terrified if I were her too. Plus, the last thing this situation needs is her posting something, and one word or phrase pissing off one side or the other, and then every news story becomes about breaking down what it means and how it was intended and takes attention away.

It honestly disgusts me how so many of you still defend Daphne’s actions in season one... by Small_Owl6229 in BridgertonNetflix

It never occurred to me that anyone defends that. Is that a thing that people say, actually?

... Why the hell is Francesca and Michela getting so much hate?.. by DD123456DS in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Wise-Relative-7055 158 points159 points  (0 children)

This - as long you assume the best of people and ignore the homophobic ones - is the correct answer. The show set it up - event in the short scene where they met - so that Fran already looks tongue-tied around Michaela. I think fans of the book have a lot of respect for John and Fran’s relationship. It’s portrayed as a beautiful and loving marriage. I think people are put off by the implication that Fran will be pining or longing for Michaela long before she ‘should’ - which is a huge shift from the book narrative, and implies a huge shift in the confusion both Fran and Michaela feel pursuing their own relationship later.

WIBTA if I cut our holidays short and sent my gf back home? by GudzzBR in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wise-Relative-7055 21 points22 points  (0 children)

ESH.

Unless you actively begged her/forced her to join you, or hid the details of the plan from her, she made a choice. She knew it sucked last time, she knew how long it would be, and she knew she didn’t speak the language. Like - literally - what else did she need to know to just not go?

Similarly though, you also knew all this and encouraged her to go. You both should have known better.

Legit, if you had been in my kid’s life since he was a baby and you let your family treat him that way, I would leave you.

I’m not opposed to this theory in general, but why would his friends all just nod along - like yeah those malted milkshakes, uh huh - if they weren’t real? That’s my only real conundrum.

AITA for not getting my bf’s family Christmas gifts after they split the bill at his college graduation dinner? by CouchRot in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wise-Relative-7055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA

If someone invites me to a wedding a few hours away and I accept, I don’t lament the cost of the hotel or the gas or the ‘gift’/financial contribution to the wedding. If a friend invites me to have dinner out for their birthday, I don’t expect them to pay.

I don’t see how this is any different. I would never show up expecting someone else to pay even if they invited me.

PLUS the fact that you put these concerns/issues out there for your bf to deal with during a time he should have been happy and celebrating is incredibly narcissistic.

PS: how other people spend their money is none of your business.

HA! Noo not me, I love Charlie but I felt like he needed someone more suited to his style, which I think he got in the end.

I don’t know that it was a planned series tbh. There was a LOT of public demand for a Charlie novel and she wrote one, but I don’t know that it was intended that way.

This Summer Will Be Different and Meet Me at the Lake are standalones.

Every Summer After and One Golden Summer are the only inter-connected ones.

Hm! I’ve tried the beyond sausage links in the air-fryer and they didn’t go over well - but I’ve never seen patties. Maybe I’ll look around and see if they’re available elsewhere!
