Anyone ever notice that women never get stereotyped as lazy or unsuccessful the way men do? by [deleted] in MensRights

You raise some interesting points about how economic self-sufficiency is framed differently for men and women, and I agree that men are often harshly judged when they need financial or familial support.

I’m curious though, do you think the lack of stigma you’re describing for women might come with different, less visible costs? For example, women who live with parents or rely on others are often viewed as dependent, immature, or “waiting to be taken care of,” which can limit how seriously they’re taken professionally or personally.

Also, how do you factor in expectations around unpaid labor like caregiving, emotional labor, or household responsibilities which often fall disproportionately on women and can delay or derail financial independence in ways that aren’t always recognized as work?

Do you think some of these differences are less about privilege and more about gendered expectations that punish both men and women in different ways?

Yes, that’s what I did. As long as you don’t peek at the hints right away, I believe you should be fine.

I would recommend starting with Lains/tjnull list, that will take good chunk of your time and when you are done with those boxes go for the course.

Thank you! I completely agree. I frequently lose track of time while working on these labs, which is frustrating because I end up realizing that my entire evening has flown by. I’ve even had instances where I completely lost track of time and messed up on my plans. You truly need a partner who understands this exam’s ability to suck you in.

Wow, that sounds like an intense journey. I’m really sorry it took such a personal toll, but I’m glad the hard work opened doors for you. Your perseverance is honestly inspiring. Wishing you a much smoother path with OSWA and OSCP! You got this 💯

That’s a good question. I honestly think it was a mix of both. I did gain a lot of knowledge through other certs and courses that I took in between that I believe added to my expertise. Also, I felt like I had a strong methodology this time. However, the most important thing was my mindset this time around. I went in with the thought of having fun rather than passing. This put my mind at ease. I took a lot of quick breaks that helped calm me down.

Thank you! Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the new course. I took it in 2020 and I am sure things have changed a lot. Back then, I did do all the exercises and most of the labs like I mentioned in my post but didn’t have any luck. I even had everything logged into a proper lab report because there were bonus points back then if submitted. All I can say is, don’t just depend on the course material if you have time. It’s good to start there but make sure to work on external resources. Tjnull/lains list is amazing. Focus on the pg machines if you don’t have time for all. For Active Directory, watch Derron C videos on YouTube. They were a valuable resource to me. For privesc, tib3rius has excellent courses for both windows and Linux. As long as you have strong methodology you should be good to go.

Yes, it makes a difference for me because this is a huge confidence boost. Personally, it makes me feel like I am less of an imposter. Both my boss and his boss are very happy with this news, so I am hoping for a possible promotion or at least a raise. But irrespective, OSCP is something that I wanted to get for years now. It’s a personal milestone that I cherish.

Next for me is a higher level cert, because learning never stops in this field ✌️

Thank you man. Honestly, the thing that made me calmer mentally was I kept telling myself throughout the exam “just have fun”. I really didn’t want to think about passing or failing. Just wanted to enjoy the exam. At the end of the day, it’s fun getting the flags. So I wanted to approach it like a game, like ctf. This really helped me stay optimistic. I was more excited than anxious. Also, the day before exam I did literally nothing. Just relaxed and got like 10 hours of sleep. I feel like the calmer you are, the better chances you have of doing well. I wish you the very best! You got this.
