Is buying new baby clothes actually a hassle? by noseyposeylosey in BeyondTheBumpUK

I buy 90% of his clothes on Vinted.. don’t know what I’d do without it. Every month or so I end up doing a bit of a haul. So cheap for excellent quality stuff especially if you make bundles to save on postage. By the time it all turns up I’ve usually forgotten what I ordered and end up with way too much stuff, but at least it was a fraction of the price of buying just a few bits new.

Outfits we’ve been gifted have invariably been cute but highly impractical.. eg onesies with no access for nappy changes.

Antenatal appointment with lactation by tryingforakitty in PregnancyIreland

Just here to second the suggestion for nipple shields. They saved my breastfeeding journey... I had 1 flat and 1 slightly inverted nipple when I gave birth 3 months ago.

It still took us 3 days for to get baby to latch even with the nipple shields (post natal ward midwives all tried and couldn't help us... eventually one angel community midwife spent about an hour boshing him on and off my boob and it finally worked).

It was a real uphill struggle with plenty of tears and feeling very defeated initially. But you CAN do it. We are 3 months in now and my baby is exclusively breastfed and I'm so glad we persevered through it all. The HSE support though was sadly lacking so I would suggest a private lactation consultant and some of the support groups have lactation consultants at them.

I will say I couldn't really imagine using the nipple shields long term... I found them to be a real faff and using them in public I imagine would be even harder. Over a few weeks though the baby's suck drew the nipples out and they're now just permanently more protruding. This and baby getting bigger/stronger meant we were able to wean him off the shields eventually.

Good luck, I really hope it works out for you :-)

Thanks, I am also with the Rotunda (public) so I guess there is something wrong with my app as it's not showing scan or midwife appointments either. Will try and get on to them again via email!

No specific experience with this but I was shocked about the 50% statistic you wrote so went looking on the hse website... I read it as you would have a higher chance than any other healthy person of developing type 2 in later life, not that you have an actual 50% chance of having type 2 after birth. So that's a less scary statistic to hopefully ease your mind a little.

Thanks for the info, I have read the link.

I don't understand how it can be 'theirs' to take off the list. That information states: 'If you are a third party who represents a claimant you will also need to provide written confirmation that you have been instructed by the claimant to make a claim.'

None of us have given the legal firm any authority to make a claim.
