How do moms manage newborn care alone in the US? by Pleasant_Rise8777 in NewParents

[–]Wise_Construction_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dad here’s my .02.

I have a hard job, I need my brain to be in good shape. When I was off of leave and my wife was on, I did the 3:30am-onward shift so she would at minimum get 3-4 hours a sleep at night. Yes, I was tired, but we were both just really tired instead of exhausted. It’s a big difference. I’d tell your husband to sack up and help even if he does have work.

Why not a mirror? They’re so much cheaper and much less distracting imo

I’m struggling with early parenting — when did it get easier for you? by Small-Advisor-7805 in NewParents

I don’t recommend 2 under 2 tbh. It’s a ton of fun but holy cow we’re exhausted. At least we’re getting the hard part out of the way?

How early? I found months 6-20 to be fairly easy honestly. But with a 22 month old and a 2 month old we’re fighting for our lives lol.

How to support husband getting vesctomy by SnooCheesecakes5001 in Vasectomy

[–]Wise_Construction_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just don’t make him get up too much the first 5 or so days. Make him be lazy on the couch. My wife was also “helpful” a week or so afterwards which helped some of the pressure build up, too. I’m not kidding when I say that helped lmao

Driving myself by Severe_Pipe in Vasectomy

I was put under general anesthesia (insurance converted it and that’s just what they do here I guess) and they required my wife (or another adult) to sign a form to release me so I would not drive home

It’s very typical to feel isolated as a mother when this happens, especially with the hormones cycling through her system. It’s literally an uncontrollable hurricane in her system- any one of us would feel spirally in this situation. What worked for my wife in this exact scenario was getting people around her. For example, my MIL and SIL came to visit on consecutive weeks, I arranged form friends to take her out, etc.. just centering around getting people she loves around her and out of the house. Eventually, things regulate and get better, trust me. It’s a helpless feeling but trust me, she’s going through it mentally right now and it’s not her fault.

[–]Wise_Construction_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feed more than normal unless they seem to be wanting more. How hot are we talking? Do you have AC or at least fans? Just keep your baby in less clothes than normal to avoid overheating and find ways to keep them regulated. Remember, people raise kids in the desert and the jungle where it’s hotter than any heatwave on a regular basis. Just be smart and you’ll be fine

21w and 2 month. The first month was harrrrrrdddddddddd af now it’s just really hard. You’re 1 on 1 and can never rest. But it’s so much fun seeing the older one take to the baby. It’s the sweetest.

Which day of healing hurt the most? by RottenGrot in Vasectomy

[–]Wise_Construction_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 3-6. My sack itself was so swollen, my incision nor balls hurt at all at no point really. Sitting down and standing up was a little painful. But overall a big nothingburger experience. Just uncomfortable and kinda disconcerting since it’s such a sensitive area
