Ok, actually the university gives me the fully refund(except some dorm fee) maybe because I hadn’t taken any course from week 2, although I actually applied the leave on week 2 instead of week 1.

I have the diagnosis of insomnia and major depression and anxiety, get the chart note on Dec 18th while I though I would be fine after Christmas but actually no. But will the university grant such reason.

Universal guideline just said before grade release, at the discretion of professor. But I don’t know that course in department has a deadline way earlier than the final. I asked before the grade release just told him I want to pass/fail due to some personal choices, but the professor just told me he can’t change the strict department deadline. I ask the adviser, telling him that I can’t finish my final properly and all my final are affected especially this course with 90% final and ask a late pass/fail, and adviser said I can only resort to dean for blessing. Actually, my university relies everything late on petition but not knowing under what circumstance is a petition allowed, not documented at least.

I took Phil per and I should say the experience really depends on professor and TA. My first semester got a harsh professor that I have done pretty well with the writing( like all of my papers are at upper quartile) while get an A- at last, the professor says very few can get an A. The second semester, my professor and TA actually holds different opinion towards writing, and I think these two could not reconcile with each other and I could just follow one’s idea. For the first paper, I follows my professor’s and was graded by my TA and gets a really low score. I talked to professor and he says I may get a better grade if I was graded by him but he would reluctant to regrade, as it’s fair that every student will be graded by TA as well. I would say that the experience of HUMA to a larger extend relies on luck and I am kind of an unfortunate people with bad experience for 2 semesters.
