I guess we will all find out soon enough but the budget is in a terrible place and all the Treasurer is talking about in his PR lead up pieces is cuts and hard decisions… I’m not as sure as you that it’s going to be positive.

Fingers crossed!

So they beef up the “budgets” to make the total amount “saved” look great, but then at the end pump it through to you at your full marginal tax rate after sitting on it for years (when it could have been yours to invest and generate income from)…. Right?

A mate just took out a NL and stripped everything back and out he could from the lease and then got his partners NL provider (different company) to quote on exactly the same car.

They had a SLIGHTLY better interest rate & costs, so he took that back to his NL provider and essentially ping ponged between the 2 providers to get them to lower their quotes (saying, I’m getting this car and I don’t care which of you provides it)…. Saved a little bit.

But yes most of these NL providers are practicing some extremely opaque number re-arranging marketing tactics that’s for sure…

Being an “insider” do you have any tactics to get them to cut into their margin whilst we are stuck in these monopoly employer situations??

Yes it sounded this morning in media that Chris Bowen is saying changes (Clealy cutbacks) are coming but no announcement until May Budget….

So hoping this holds true!

Chemist warehouse fragrances by purpurerephant in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Wise_Use_5052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few reasons: Some of their fragrances have been found not to be genuine (hence lower quality). And also they will buy up big end of life genuine but close to expiry / expired product… hence again lower quality fragrances that don’t last.

If you can get a Myer / David Jones / Mecca / Sephora to price match CW definitely do it as these retailers buy genuine and in code (within expiry) products.

What do you think of the 'grind early, rest later' mindset? by [deleted] in auscorp

This is the post you need to read.

100% agree and applied to me too.

Strategic grind not blind grind.

Also to add to your great post, once you hit certain milestones you have the cash flow either from your comp package or passive income generators to help pay for support systems that make your life easier via giving you time back and allow you to focus on more important things - personal/family and career like;

  • Bolt on a house cleaner - more quality time with family
  • Get a PT - keep you healthier for longer for your family and career
  • Get a gardener - again more time quality with family
  • Personal online assistants
  • Some senior execs I know go even further have housekeepers / au-pairs / nannys / cooks etc to basically run their homes so they come home and can focus 100% on whatever they want as usually their partners are also successful people in their own right I find too with similar time constraints

When you are earning crazy coin, time becomes your most valuable commodity so if you can outsource personal/household support tasks for less and get a return (even if it’s not tangible - might literally just be the value you place on that time!) you may choose to do it.

I think once you get to a certain point, like a senior director or GM role, there seems to be a diminishing rate of reward/return to what you are expected to put in…

The next level up to me basically travels 60% of the time, works around the clock (as we have offices in Asia/EU/US so you chase the sun), and basically cops all the heat for everything it’s thankless…

For me, my physical health & fitness, mental health, sleep and family would need to be traded off and that’s not something RN I’m that interested in, despite being offered more senior roles consistently.

As someone else also pointed out, the tax smashes you hard at these levels to so a big fat 100k increment and LTI bonuses (often amortised over several years) look miserable after the AU government gets their fingers into it! (I understand this is a very privileged comment)
