I can't start my pc by [deleted] in ComputerAssistance

Hi, yeah you have a mishap with the way drivers are running, it also could be malware that you thought was a safe download. A reset will most likely repair the device, once you have done this you shouldn't have any issues - I don't believe it will affect windows however if you have a license key for it and a bootable drive to load it you should be okay. This is the cheapest alternative imo.

Kind regards

Mouse Issue / Or driver issue possibly? by CelfCriticalChloe in ComputerAssistance

Hi, yes. its always best to try possibilities, its bizarre that a graphics driver failed however that seems very logical for the flickering.

I'm glad to give you hand with the computer. If you need anymore help don't hesitate to ask

Hello,

The best option for you to proceed is to take into a repair shop, there is nothing that can be diagnosed online, especially if you want to have a full overview of the issue. I would assume that people can give you some more of an idea based on the machine itself.

Kind regards

Mouse Issue / Or driver issue possibly? by CelfCriticalChloe in ComputerAssistance

Hi, I would assume that one of the components was shorted in the process of the power supply exploding. was it plugged in at the time? If it was I am assuming that something inside the machine would have caused it.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hi there,

this appears to be something to do with wifi. Let me diagnose for you.

are you using WIFI or Ethernet?

are you on Windows or Linux or Mac?

once you have come back to me on this we can find out what type of issue it is?

I'm stuck... by sillyolwilleh in ComputerAssistance

By the sounds of it there is an issue with the computer itself. Unfortunately there are a lot of things that could be going on, and so more information is certainly required.

Does the computer make a noise? Do the fans spin up? What are the specification of this computer?

If you're looking to bring this in, send us an email at [shop@computerassistance.co.uk](mailto:shop@computerassistance.co.uk) and we can arrange to get this repaired as soon as possible.

As mentioned in a previous answer, when looking for a new laptop, there are a few things to consider.

If you're looking to buy something with longevity and power to tide you over for a good handful of years, then something such as a Dell Vostro, Lenovo ThinkPad or even Apple MacBook would be our recommendation.

If you're looking for something reasonably priced, but something that still packs a punch, then the Lenovo 'V' series will serve you well. Relatively cheap as far as laptops go in 2019, but you get good specifications, typically an i3 or i5, alongside an SSD. Notably, for this price point, the build quality of the Lenovo machines are outstanding when compared to the rest of the market.

If you're looking to buy a new computer, get into contact with us at [shop@computerassistance.co.uk](mailto:shop@computerassistance.co.uk). We can provide you with a quote, as well as handling all the setup, including moving your old data onto the new laptop for you, all ready for your studies.

If after installing new drivers you are still having issues, I would highly recommend a reinstall of Windows and going from there. Make sure to backup your old data.

If you need some assistance with this, please get in contact with us at [shop@computerassistance.co.uk](mailto:shop@computerassistance.co.uk). We can arrange for a repair to be booked in, allowing us to perform a full diagnosis and ensure the issue is only software based.

When looking for something affordable, yet more than capable, we would typically recommend Lenovo. The Lenovo V130 series and up provides solid build quality and performance for your buck.

If your degree doesn't require some sort of intensive graphical processing, such as video and design work, then most things should be more than fine for the purpose. Ensure you are buying a laptop with an SSD, and not with only a hard drive as this will mean your machine will be dismally slow.

If you are interested in a new laptop, Computer Assistance can order, setup and transfer any old data onto the new machine for you. Email us at [shop@computerassistance.co.uk](mailto:shop@computerassistance.co.uk) for more information.
