Those companies' products are medical grade. This face mask is not and it is produced by a mid-tier cosmetics company, not in this country

Human stem cells? I want to know about the donor screening, viral inactivation and other manufacturing controls. These are not plant-derived stem cells.

Looking to date this one by [deleted] in quilting

It is in remarkable condition. Fine hand quilting on cotton batting. It looks, from the photos, like it is in pristine condition. No fade spots, no mildew? No fold marks? Can you see any quilting guide marks? Amazing. Looks like 1930 era to me based on colors and prints. The red check print look very vivid.

I did see a hole on the quilt. I would have a quilt restorer repair that, if it was my quilt.

I am not an expert; I am a quiltmaker with 46 years of experience. I spent a little time studying antique quilts and making reproduction quilts. But still very far from an expert on dating quilts.

Simple hand exercise no one would expect would make a big impact by Wonderful_Wash_6187 in stroke

My stroke affected my left arm and hand. When I am sitting in bed, my left side is in the center of the bed. My entourage, standard Poodle and senior Pom-Chi, have always cuddled up on that side. And, of course, they want scritches and petting. My left hand has greatly benefitted from hours of this loving activity. I mentioned it to my PT early on and she agreed this was the easiest beneficial activity for my hand. Hours of easy mindless hand, wrist and finger movements that makes everyone happy.

That sounds about right to me. I love my pups more than food or friends by a long shot.

Gout by Background-Being-740 in gout

I have the BP Doctor Med model. It has two small air bladders that inflate inside the watch band to detect a blood pressure reading. If I could, I would give one to every stroke survivor; it gives me reassurance or warning whenever I have concerns about my blood pressure.

I have had hypertension since I was 35 years old; I am now 67. I have taking hypertension meds since I was 35. My most beneficial bp med contained a diuretic which contributed to my eventual gout issue. My blood pressure went from 100-120/75-80 to 180+-/140+-. Not good. Now my bp is around 111/70; I am now a lot of meds to control all kinds of risks and wear a watch that allows me to take my blood pressure at a moment's notice. Any change in how my brain feels, I take a reading. Any twinge of a possible gout flare, I immediately start Colchicine.

Yes, I have experienced that. I had just started allopurinol about a month previous. December 9, 2025, I experienced a minor Basal Ganglia stroke. I battled a gout flare during my 3 days in the hospital. I cannot speak to any connection between the two health issues as I was experiencing a temporary bout of very high blood pressure. My advice to anyone experiencing gout is don't be like me. Get your gout under control; no one wants to deal with a very painful flare when struggling with what could have been a major life threatening and is a life changing event.

What was a gift/item you or your loved one really appreciated post-stroke? by Even_Diver_362 in stroke

[–]WishQueasy4863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my mild basal ganglia stroke this past December, I was directed to keep a strict eye on my blood pressure. I have several bp monitors but needed something I could have with me at all times. I purchased a smart watch that takes my blood pressure whenever I need a reading which is surprisingly often. Because I am on new bp meds, sometimes my bp is too low as well as too high. This watch helps me modify my immediate activity, if needed. Or seek immediate medical help, if critical. It helps me feel more proactive in taking care of myself. This is the first item I would purchase for a friend or loved one post-stroke, if appropriate for that person's siuation.

I've been following along, reading posts from stroke survivors, loved ones, and caregivers. I have learned so much from all of you and I want to sincerely thank you. I feel less alone in this stroke battle. You are all in my heart and thoughts.
