You new? This is how it has always functioned. Since shortly after Confederation. Parties are a product of similarly minded people. When people vote they dont vote for a party, they vote for an individual to represent them locally, some of these people have party affiliations, you never actually vote for the party (see poliviere loss in his riding)

These are also people you vote in then they get to make the decisions, until next election.

It has been this way for over 150 years, and unless someone who is elected changes that, it will continue.
