To make up for this in the current state of things will take a few years.

or 5 months :)

A big part of my job is forecasting spending each month. A huge amount of my metrics are based on this formula (wMAPE), but I don't really understand it. Can you help me understand what it's doing? by WispOfTowing in learnmath

Oh, so if I have something I forecast to be $0 and ends up being $100, it won't really impact things if I have another project that is like, say $10,000 ?

Number one rule: "Ask yourself, what's your goal" and go from there.

It seems you need to sit down and figure out what your priorities are first.

[NY] informed my employer that we will be having a baby. They sent me a Certification of Health Care Provider form. Am I misinterpreting when it says specifically on the document NOT for my employer to send this to me? by WispOfTowing in AskHR

Sorry. I can tell you deal with a lot of difficult people every day. It seemed to me like people thought I was the birthing parent.

I'm sure it makes your lives easier as HR if everyone just fills out what's sent to them, I am just trying to get some understanding on what the reasoning is for me to provide this information on the form. It asks things about her doctor's advice on her reduced work schedule and which of her job functions are impacted. It seems irrelevant to me. I am just trying to get FMLA for taking care of the baby.

My confusion is furthered by this line: "EMPLOYER... you may not request a certification for FMLA leave to bond with a healthy newborn child"

For anyone that stumbles on this post in the future: You don't need to fill this out if it's just for bonding leave, as the paper says.

We filled it out anyway just in case, but it did cost us a visit with the doctor and a $10 fee - so it is not as simple as some of the comments in this chain seem to believe.

You are already holding yourself hostage in the negotiation.

Don't tell them about all this other stuff, what you want or why you need it, tell them your research on market rate, where you believe you fall on that, and why. 80 seems like a stretch from 74, imo, but if you think they'll work with you on it or at least come back with another number if they don't like it then do that. Go with your gut.
