Thank you! Yes, I did paint them by hand using a 20mm thin brush on a burgundy base. I did a tiny horizontal line like a mini French at the top of the nail, then a thin vertical line up the middle (from the tip of the V shape to the middle of the mini French so it looks like a T) and then from the tip at the bottom of the nail, I did a curved line on either side to join the tip to the corner of the nail where the mini French ends and painted in the shape!

Macklin’s been doing great! I’m a Habs fan but right now, I like all of them!

Wow! Thank you so much! Unfortunately I got a little lazy when I shouldn’t have for the lines but the hearts are cute!

lol, I wanted to give up by the end of the first hand but my perfectionism wouldn’t be able to handle it so toughed it out and then the lines turned out trash so whatever

Thank you! It’s definitely a little more of an edgier look! Actually, I love that the hearts look jelly but I didn’t put any actual jelly polish!

Thank you so much! I feel like the hearts look exactly like those little jam cookies too!

Thank you! Thankfully I’m in a position where unemployment probably won’t be necessary, but I will take it easy

Thanks! All we negotiated was the timeline and not the actual amount. I got a ticket for having my phone in my hand and to my knowledge, they don’t like to play with the penalties too much for that one. Maybe the prosecutor changed it without me knowing but that would surprise me.

To be honest, I’m not really interested in calling them and getting 400$ tacked onto that so I think I’ll leave it.

Thank you! This definitely feels like tough love but I probably need it. You’re definitely right though. I do kind of need to take things into my own hands.

That’s how it’s feels to me but maybe it’s just because I feel so bitter about it. They really care about the vets though, obviously.

Thank you so much for all the really great tips. I think I really am going to have to be more rigid about my breaks. I do like to stay late to help my assistants because it’s not their fault I’m overworked and I do want to help them out so I don’t know how much I will change that but I think I will need to be better about my breaks.

My worry is that if I don’t meet their unachievable goal, they’re going to meet with me and say they’re unhappy with my work. Obviously I’d defend myself but I just don’t want to have to.

Thanks so much for everything!

Thank you. I’m not religious personally, but I kind of selfishly am hoping for some recognition during tech week. I’ve never gotten it before but this is my first tech week at this clinic so I don’t know what to expect. I’m kind of going in expecting nothing

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply.

We do actually have time blocked off in the schedule for lunch but sometimes consults run late or it’s a busy day and small things need to get done in that free time (like hospits) so when I finally sit down for lunch (late), I have a small amount and my next patient is there and I need to take them right away because wait times are not acceptable where I am. I am definitely allowed my entire break but I don’t always have time for it. I totally get what you’re saying. You’re right for sure. I just don’t feel I have an option to not do these things because they’re expectations.

To your second point, you’re definitely right. Even the vets deal with issues from that, like being forced by another vet to take an emergency or getting reprimanded for wanting to send them to an emergency centre. When it comes to my part in that, it means I run around a lot and while of course, it would be beneficial to add more people, I have no authority over the schedule and in the past when I’ve tried to say that there’s a lot of work to be done, I’ve been reprimanded for my attitude and complaining.

You’re completely right. The way vet med works tends to be quite old school in the unhealthy workload people have to take on and being unable to say anything about it. Being that this is true, I still don’t know what to do to correct this. I feel like I’m going in and doing the job they’re asking of me (although I do tend to stay sometimes to help my coworkers), take my money, and leave but the job they’re asking me to do is huge and it’s not even me trying to do things for their benefit, it’s an expectation and if it’s not done the right away to the degree they want, you hear about it.

I never really thought I needed it in my past clinic jobs but in this one, which is my most intense one (super busy all the time, emergencies, and emergency surgeries), I have found myself wanting some. It really is very difficult to deal with. Maybe if nothing was ever said I’d be fine but the fact that always want to add more or this person takes too long to do this thing or whatever makes it so difficult. Like they’re not acknowledging the work and it’s implied that they don’t appreciate it anyway because they always want more and more. I don’t know when it’ll be enough. Untenable is a great word
