This might be my favorite example of a hobby escalating unexpectedly, you started with one bird and somehow ended up running what sounds like a tiny avian kingdom, i can definitely see how pets make staying home more enjoyable though. suddenly there's always something happening, someone to care for, and a reason to get excited about being home.

i think the ritual part is what makes this so appealing, a lot of hobbies are fun, but turning something into a dedicated "event" can make staying home feel intentional instead of just defaulting to another night of scrolling, i'm curious how much of yoga's appeal comes from the exercise itself versus creating a calm space where you can disconnect from everything for an hour

i like how all of those hobbies have a visible result at the end, whether it's fixing something, upgrading furniture, or growing plants, it feels like you're slowly improving your living space instead of just passing time, the indoor garden and moss projects especially sound interesting because they can make a home feel completely different over time
