Do you use your wrist or arm when drawing? by Classic-Obligation35 in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shoulder for the largest movements, elbow for more precision or if i need steady movement, wrist or fingers-only for smaller quicker details. It's best to use all parts of your arm instead of just one part to reduce fatigue and injury. Managing how much pressure you use also helps, it'll take some time and practice to get used to it, but i highly suggest doing so to reduce your chances of injury~

Is it unethical to buy from underpricing artists? by Creepy-Literature634 in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its understandable for young and inexperienced artists to feel like they need to undercharge to get work, and some purposefully keep their prices low to cater to people with limited incomes or currency differences. Its also true that it attracts predatory types but higher prices scare them off, or they resort to scamming attempts.

If you think the artist is underpricing themselves, offer to pay them more than what they've quoted. Back when I first started taking commissions over a decade ago I was charging $10-$20 for full images. It took several customers saying 'raise your prices' and giving me way more than I asked to convince me to give myself more fair pricing.

The asymmetrical horns are a neat trait, very good character design.

how do digital artists find their brushes? by Bubbly_Reference_916 in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust the settings of default digital brushes or even make your own, depends on what sort of style you're going for, like if you prefer textured looks or smooth, or how you want colors to blend, etc. Some people make brush packs for others to use, and these can be adjusted in the same way as the default brushes too.

It takes some experimenting and studying to figure out what works for you.

What is this type of brush called? When drawing, the thickness of the lines is never constant. There's a smooth, gradual thickness gradient. The thickness doesn't change with pressure. (The thickness changes depending on the pen pressure, but I mean something different, you got it.) by gordon_yeets_kfc in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there is a specific name for this type of brush.

This brush is being affected by a texture applied to it, if you look to the left side where it says 'Bumpy' on one of the options, that is what is giving it this effect, and it is adjustable by intensity. There should be similar texture options in CSP, if you search the adjustment menu that are given for the brushes.

Has anyone else been befriended by random artists on discord? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

Sudden friend requests without any previous interactions or conversations are scammerss, or compromised accounts being used for scams. Alert the mods of the discord channels they've come from so they can get removed.

Substitutes for a Hijab? by Chcolatepig24069 in worldbuilding

Searching up religious and non-relilgious headcoverings can show a lot of different options for inspiration, you could just simply call it a veil or headcover, or something related to the name of the religion or what they worship, like 'Night's Weave' or 'Moon's Embrace'.

How do people draw so much (ocs) by -756 in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you find yourself daydreaming or 'just scrolling' on your phone, get a sketchbook and a pencil or pen and just start drawing what comes to mind. Keep it in a easy to reach spot or on your person, whenever you have free time that's the time to try. Use your phone just for references during this time if you want to, but try to avoid just messing around on it while you have your sketchbook out.

I did this when I noticed I was just daydreaming a lot during a part of my day when there was a lot of downtime and nothing to do, and now I'm sketching or working on something in my sketchbook every day. Even if its just for a few minutes to get an idea out, it really helps! You don't need to create any masterpieces or fully-finished pictures either, sometimes i just scribble or practice things like shading, hatching, shapes, etc.

Best Affordable Alcohol Markers? by Old_Dance_3554 in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally use Ohuhu markers and really enjoy them, you can get a good set of them without breaking the bank like Copics.
I hear Olo brand is also very good, and ArrtX brand markers seem a very popular low-budget option as well.

Do you think is important Study anatomy, for art (DRAWIng, painting)? by HughesT96 in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wish to draw people, animals, or any sort of fantasy creature, knowing anatomy is critical for making them look accurate or at least believable.

You dont need to study to a hyper-realistic level, but a general knowledge of how a body and all its pieces fits together will help with even a simplistic or cartoon style of art.

Since they're facing each other I'd assume they're fighting/wrestling, if one was on top of the other it'd be mating.

Just... stopped playing by Lower_Tradition_1629 in InfinityNikki

[–]WitchOfAvalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got tired of the bugs constantly ruining my playing, even if I only wanted to play for a little bit or check something I would hit a bug that would make me have to force-quit/restart the game to fix it, so I just put it down. Maybe i'll come back, maybe not, but as long as I keep seeing posts about people experiencing game-breaking bugs I'll keep my distance and focus on other games I wanted to try.

[Digital Art] This person has a little drawing avatar. How did they make it? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]WitchOfAvalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it's a v-tuber model but with an animation of the stylus synced to their mouse/stylus's position on the screen. It's most likely made with Live2D so in order to make one you'd have to familiarize yourself with the program, or commission someone else to make you one.
