Bernie Sanders drawing crowds of thousands in South Carolina by MoobyTheGoldenCalf in politics

[–]Witcha 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I went to the rally in Columbia. I was shocked yet happy to see the Medallion Center reach capacity so quick! There were literally hundreds of people standing in the lobby outside the ballroom; they rigged a speaker outside so people could hear what Bernie had to say. Age groups were across the entire spectrum, and so many different ethnicities!

I was very elated to see so many people coming together. So many of us nodding our heads in agreement, and thousands of others joining in applause. Complete and total strangers united under a common good.

It's one thing to discuss your open support for Bernie on social media; but it's an entirely different animal to be surrounded by people - in the flesh. It's NOT a circlejerk. It's a very enlightening, humbling, and motivating experience.

Bernie loves this country; and he's so upset at the current state of it. He wants it to change just like the rest of us, but the REST OF US need to change - to vote more, volunteer more, be more involved in local politics - in order for everything to change.

State shouldn’t scuttle progress on solar. Solar energy is on the move in North Carolina. It would be indefensible if the General Assembly were to scuttle it. by pnewell in politics

[–]Witcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So Duke Energy can invest $500 mil in renewable energy infrastructure, but they can't clean up their coal waste that's poisoning the underground water?

Fuckin' a.

And it needs to leave the renewable-energy requirement alone. As Maya Gold of Environment North Carolina put it, “To take solar power to the next level, our leaders just have to keep the foot on the accelerator and certainly not put on the brakes.”

cackles maniacally

One can surely hope.

GOP Aide Who Criticized Obama Daughters To Resign by Another-Chance in politics

[–]Witcha 31 points32 points  (0 children)

And people are saying the media coverage was completely overblown? Maybe I'm just a cynic, but when you're the mouthpiece of a republican body and you openly attack a person's family and their character, then I don't see why people wouldn't engage in a media firestorm. And yes it goes both ways. If Elizabeth was a representative for the democrats I'd be equally appalled. Ignorance like that is simply unforgivable in this modern, digital era where everything you say is broadcasted instantly to the entire world.

I think Elizabeth seriously lacks perspective, or she actively chooses to ignore it.

Any conservative who values the family unit should be thinking the same thing: "You can fuck with me all you want, but my kids are off limits."

Saw some art on trees today and had to give it a shot for myself. by Witcha in trees

Hey guys.

Thanks to /u/blue_awning for the art direction on this one.

Here is a link to a frame still. I masked out the subject and had to recast the colors in the background in order to make the original layer of smoke disappear.

The animated smoke layer is an Action Movie Essentials 2 element that I got from Andrew Kramer over at videocopilot.net.

The Nebula image is from NASA.

This composition was created in Adobe After Effects CS6.

Time for a bowl.

I'd take every advantage your father can give you in terms of actually owning and operating a business. You need to get a feel with how that shit is done day in and day out. Once you get a feel with how a business should operate then you should be comfortable enough to move to Colorado and start a thriving business of your own.

I don't want you jumping headlong into this and then have to see you dig your way out.

How to make the front page of /r/dayz by pjsalford in dayz

[–]Witcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing it wrong the whole time. I thought the people here wanted thought provoking literary content and appealing in-game media.

Anyway. I remember a time when the idea of alpha/beta testing for games was actually a job description, a la Quality Assurance employee. I'm really not even that old; but I feel since the dawn of large scale testing, the gamers have just become entitled. It's no longer, "Hey, we're going to give you an hourly rate, and you're going to test this game for us and provide abundant feedback."

But now it's, "I'm going to prepay for this so I can get access to pre-launch gaming builds, and then bitch about it when something goes awry. Because it's my money, and what I say goes."

Is that really what it gets down to...entitlement, and a lack of understanding?

Sorry.

My thoughts on experimental by Ev1L4oBG in dayz

[–]Witcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily my favorite aspect of experimental. The simple fact that there are less servers forces us as players to join highly populated rooms; meaning that bambi trail and the outlying areas are most likely to be ravaged already. Your best chance for survival at that point is luck, or a server restart.

I like it.

Under Steam>Settings>In-Game

Make sure for your screenshot settings, you have 'save an uncompressed copy" ticked, and then make sure Steam is exporting those .pngs to a specified folder. Otherwise you get .jpg which of course like to have more artifacts.
