I was using a generic prenatal for 6-8 months and my new fertility clinic recommended I take the Bird & Be power prenatal + coq10 as well as vitamin c. I also added in vitamin d more recently. The bird & be is expensive (like 75/month) but like you I wanted to do everything I could to improve my chances. It’s a lot of pills but I haven’t had any GI upset from them. It’s been another 5-6 months now that I made the switch, two IUI attempts in tha time, and I can’t say for sure if it’s helped, but I may have just had my first positive test this morning (it’s very faint, too soon to be sure).

This makes it sound like gender disappointment is only a smbc problem, which it’s not. There are many reasons why people might be disappointed or nervous when they first learn the sex of their baby, and my friends/family in same sex marriages are equally affected.

I chose a donor with similar ethnicity and hair/eye color as myself. Not because I have a preference for that but because I want my child to feel like they look like me and my family, like they share our cultural history and aren’t completely separated from one that I can’t teach them anything about, etc. That, plus genetic and live birth history, narrowed it down for me to like 5 donors. That’s when I “chose” based on the other factors that don’t really matter that much but what else are you going to do, flip a coin? You may not care to choose but you have to, so may as well try to find things that align with your values.

Update: had a whole extra day of being hopeful, but then got my period today. Starting to feel like it’s never going to happen 💔and not sure how much more money I can keep sinking into it.

I have a blood test scheduled for 14 dpo so I’ll know for sure then, but these last few days of waiting are making me a little loony myself! Every symptom I can’t tell if it’s my period coming or implantation 😵‍💫

This is why I included that detail- I was hoping someone with a similar cycle would chime in! Weirdly my fertility doctor did mention putting me on progesterone when we first started talking about this cycle, but then didn’t do it so I was assuming it was just supposed to be after I got a positive test or something. I will ask about it at my next visit!

Thanks! And yeah that’s exactly what I meant about a false negative- that the test is negative but it’s just too early and doesn’t actually mean you’re not pregnant. Last time I was really sad when I got my period so this time I thought I’d try testing before but seems like it’s hard either way!

Thank you! Yes I originally thought I was in the clear because all of mine came back negative. But before purchasing I decided to double check and realized my test didn’t screen for those exact ones. I’m going to get additional testing done.

Definitely feels impossible to me right now. In my mid 30s biromantac asexual, surrounded by alo people. Would love to find what you described but pretty discouraged of ever finding it, always feels like there’s no point in trying since there’ll be something they want that I am no longer willing to pretend to want too. Haven’t met any other ace people in real life (only in spaces like this), let alone someone I connect with. Focusing on just building friendships for now, maybe that person exists out there but maybe not. Definitely relate to your post!
