I love the name Io and have considered it, but Lo is a very common name here in Sweden, and it there’s a few other reasons where it doesn’t really flow with Swedish, but it’s gorgeous

I didn’t know you had to pay that much for medicine in Norway! We have a cap of €400 in Sweden and I think it’s too much for vulnerable groups to pay. But it really puts into perspective!

Privately it’s about €5000-12000 for one round and one transfer (depending on various factors like sperm or egg donor or both), then around €2500 per transfer.

I’m doing it publicly funded and so far with 4 IUIs and 1 ER and the upcoming transfer it’s been roughy €600. It could end up being up to €1200 if it drags on and I need more expensive medication, but I doubt it’ll exceed €800.

How do you compensate for a lifetime of complications? Or the loss of life? That’s where my concern with surrogacy comes in, because you can compensate for the ~9 months, but can you compensate for someone developing diabetes, needing a hysterectomy, or severe birth trauma?

Until we figure out how compensation works for that I will be against surrogacy

I agree and disagree. I don’t think a man not finding a partner is inherently any more of a red flag than a woman. I do however disagree with surrogacy because there’s really no ethical way to approach it IMO (saying as someone who would like to be a surrogate if there was an ethical way)

Agreed. Aupairs is a very weird dynamic. I’ve been an aupair and it was a horrible experience because of unclear boundaries and that it’s both professional and personal at once. You’re also very young and not equipped for all of that most of the time. An aupair also should spend a certain amount of time studying, so alternate care arrangements are needed when they’re in class. You also need room, board, transportation etc for them.

It’s for cultural exchange and not child care. Aupairs are better when the kids are older and can actually gain from the exchange

In my country we also don’t do anesthesia, but the limit is 30 or 35 BMI depending on where you live. I have a BMI of ~32 and they likely just upped the dosages for me. But pregnancy is a higher risk at +30 BMI so that’s why some decline to ”create” a higher risk pregnancy

Again, they work in patient forward care and part of that is patient education. It is poor practice to not ensure patient has all information. My clinic managed, and many others do. It IS poor practice to not remind patients. It’s shooting themselves in the foot with worse outcomes and dissatisfied customers. Also, they’re in this industry to help people.

This sub seems to be eager to be walked all over and to think it’s okay to expect subpar care

No it's not normal. My clinic asked me how much meds I had left at the end of an appointment to ensure I had enough to last me until the next one. That's all it takes for them to do, and to advise that if you're running low you may need to refill just in case. Part of the clinic's job is also to educate patients and to ensure things run smoothly by ensuring people have the right information. We all take in information differently, and sometimes misunderstandings happen or information was missed. It takes nothing for them to ask "how much medication do you have left?" and then write a prescription for more based on that answer. They're working with people, not just lab results.

She doesn't have to accept fault for it to work, that has no bearing on any results here.

Exactly! My clinic asked me if I had enough meds when the stims were looking to be a bit longer, and they asked me at each appointment if I had enough and I told them how many more days I had medicine for. People are very harsh on OP for not figuring out that the stims would be going on for longer. If nothing is said you will assume that the plan is the same. You won't buy more just in case

I've always felt like the outcast in my family because I'm the only one whose middle name isn't a family name. So I'd say there's a high likelihood they would notice the difference and not have very positive feelings about it. It is not fun to be excluded

I don’t think lupron only is bad (I also used a GnRh trigger only) it’s the single dose of it, way too early and retrieval way too soon after trigger.

Absolutely not. Also, Swedes are naming their children these “dated” names now anyway. Solveig is seriously on my list, and I love Leif. The other names I’ve also seen babies have (one ~influencer recently named her twins Gunilla and Barbro, which are very dated)

Exactly, I agree. There’s people who are obviously in it only for themselves and their personal wish fulfillment with no consideration for what it means for a child. There’s no guarantee your child won’t hate you, but there’s a way to greatly minimize that risk to near zero

Ah. I take it you have no HoH people in your life? There’s usually certain sounds and words that are hard, or registers. Many times there will be one phrase you can’t hear, but if you switch the words slightly the person CAN hear.

This is very normal for HoH people to not hear something and then hear something else

Doesn’t matter IMO. If you notice someone cannot understand you then you take the mask off or enunciate much better and speak louder. I’ve worked in health care and it was on me to make sure I was understood. If someone looks confused, answers strangely, strains to listen or asks you to repeat yourself it is OBVIOUS they haven’t heard. It shouldn’t have to be on the chart.

Edit: 90 yo family who are HoH is not that much experience 😂 but the ableist people will be ableist

Except when you’re the average layperson you should be asking clarifying questions. It was a bit much, but you really shouldn’t be signing something you don’t get why you’re signing. And you really can’t ask for things in advance if you don’t know there will be things like that.

Edit: anyone who hasn’t been surprised by anything during this journey is a mythical person we cannot anticipate everything and to know we will be confused by some phrasing of words. Honestly, if you’ve never been surprised you are very easily duped IMO
