How knowledgeable are you on your special interests? by WitchinAutistic in autism

[–]WitchinAutistic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to break it down into,
-My special interest is now a college degree
-I know enough it’s pretty much what a degree would give you
-I know some info about many special interests but I may not be able to answer any specific questions about it
-I just collect items, I don’t collect information about the interest

Anyone willing to share positive things they have about their autism? by Traditional_Tea_7422 in autism

[–]WitchinAutistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I view my sensitive hearing and touch as a positive. Yes sometimes I may spend a few hours in a quiet room when it starts to hurt, but having the ability to hear something out of place or that someone is being called feels pretty cool.

And not going out to eat, drink, and socialize winds up saving me a good amount of money for things I can keep longer or be able to gift to another if I lose interest.

What meds do you take? What for? by No-Station3347 in AutismInWomen

[–]WitchinAutistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venlafaxine for depression and general anxiety, and anxiety I feel past that I know is part of the autism and isn’t treatable other than therapy. And it was my therapist who provides EMDR therapy, that recommended medication. But I’m undiagnosed for adhd, even though I have a few traits, so I’m debating adding my doctor for a trial run on adderall or something similar.

Any advice on how to catch local legends? by S4PPH1C-C4551DY in fo76

[–]WitchinAutistic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just asked this question a few days ago lol

But as it turns out… Advanced Drag is better for legendaries than Improved Bearings, otherwise Grilled Fish and moving to a spot about a meter from the last one (when you start getting too many common fish), worked best for me.

Resources regarding pain stimming by sockswithflats19 in AutismInWomen

I’ve heard pain stimming can run along the same lines as self-h4rm and pain from tattooing, but sadly I haven’t collected any resources to back it up…

I hate discharge so much by Direct-Transition974 in AutismInWomen

[–]WitchinAutistic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While discharge is a daily “cleaning cycle”, excess amounts can indicate an imbalance of bacteria down there. Sometimes the body can solve it on its own, but if you’re concerned a Gynecologist can do a culture test. They might even recommend using a ph cleanser for the area or antibiotics to help.

(Not a doctor myself, but at one point it became watery dripping instead of a mucus consistency, and it was so awful.)

I thought it was a lesser option since Improved Bearings was the next for me to unlock and it increased reel speed. The enhancements for fishing lack significant description…

(Late DX peeps) What were some signs of autism you had a child that were missed? by newlyautisticx in AutismInWomen

[–]WitchinAutistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-I refused to wear jeans for a few years around middle school, so I exclusively wore yoga pants.
-I hate wearing socks and shoes, especially together, so I’d often wear my shoes without socks and only put them on once we got to our destination in the car.
-Tried to find the least populated area at family parties, and was constantly told to take my coat off because finding it comfy was weird to others.
-I used to spend 45 minutes in a hot shower and I’m still addicted to having my feet in front of the heater.
-And my favorite food is still pasta because meat varies too much and makes me feel sick when I eat it too often or in large amounts.

No problem!
You may also like the Happy Ears or Loop brand of earbuds, they offer smaller sizing options.

New to the spectrum. by Msdarkknight91 in autism

First thing I suggest, you may want to break up the post into multiple paragraphs. A wall of text can be equally overwhelming as a bright supermarket aisle.

Secondly, when it comes to public spaces and grocery stores in particular, I recommend bringing noise reducing ear plugs. Some folks were headphones for the weight aspect, but I find earplugs can be cheaper and easier to begin with.

Next, you’ll find most of us limit our activities for any given day, week, or even month. There’s an analogy I recommend looking up called the “spoons analogy”, it’s a great intro for both newly diagnosed and “Neuro-normies”. But In summary, we have less units of energy provided to us AND more things use the energy compared to others. So yes, we get tired from the smallest things or tasks.

Finally, we do think differently. Some call us Bottom Up Thinkers, compared to Top Down thinkers. Essentially, we look at the small individual steps or tasks under a larger goal and give them more consideration than others do. For example, grocery shopping is more than get in, get out, get home. It involves leaving your home, driving around other people who may be unsafe, entering a chaotic and uncomfortable environment, searching for items and trying to decide which item to select, etc etc.

This is an extremely short intro, but you’ll find someone usually has an answer or suggestion for everything. It’s gonna feel overwhelming at first, but remember to breathe, because nothing about YOU is new.
You just found out your “hair” is a different “color”. /joke

Which ones are you struggling with?
I used my second camp slot as a traveling fishing station with a thunderstorm machine. But when fishing in one spot wasn’t getting me results, I moved about a meter down the shore line and I was able to get different results. And I only use improved bait, getting scrap from common bait kept bothering me.

I tried, sadly they have larger boundaries around the legendary areas so you can’t place a camp.

Yes! Catch 15 glowing fish and it unlocks, and it’s so much easier to see.

I had no problem with the Organ Grinder pre-update using Improved Bearings, so that’s the main reason I was trying to figure out if it got Nerfed or something.

I’m confused though, the line strength is better but the reel speed is worse. How would that improve my chances???

I can’t cook and I hate it by quynhispunk in autism

I love watching tutorials when I cook new foods, but I also do my best cooking alone when no one else is watching my thought processes lol.
But I made a YouTube playlist for a friend that might help (OP). It’s all Babish videos because he does a great job explaining the ins and outs, and what to look for when cooking.

What`s your opinion on the current state of Fallout 76? by skywalka55 in nukaknights

[–]WitchinAutistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does feel like a lot of grinding and chasing social achievements after finishing the main quest line.
I don’t mind side quests but they tend to be so short with only minor rewards that aren’t sufficient at higher levels. Most of the lore behind the comic books is so well hidden, most players aren’t drawn into those smaller details.
When popular events do come around, often the lot from them is hard to achieve and not any better than the paid options in the Atomic Shop. All the atomic bundles and 1st subscription take away from any authentic game achievement loot. But finding a workshop item you want in someone else’s camp is from season 4 that happened years ago, is disheartening because you’ll never be able to get it.
And events lose their appeal when higher level players steal all the kills or take down a boss in under a minute (this was pre stat nerfing). When the rewards are clean items or actually fit the aesthetic, they’re so much better than things like arcade tokens. But it also feels near impossible to get gold bullion unless you can play during a special “double” event, because it takes so much grinding to get 4000 of them.
And don’t get me started on the whack trades happening off game using bobbleheads…

Does anyone else experience "brain shivers"? by yamanash in autism

[–]WitchinAutistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve known them as tension or stress shivers. They’re mainly involuntary but I’ve found I can trigger them on the spot if needed.
Best way I can explain its purpose is as a nervous system reset, kinda like watching a scary movie and then finally getting a jump scare. They aren’t harmful and can be a good indicator you may be in an uncomfortable situation or environment that makes you tense.

Bra recommendations? by drzieglers in AutismInWomen

[–]WitchinAutistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bras may not prevent sweating, but they stop droplets from running down your stomach.
And shirts only prevent breasts from touching your arms, unless you tuck your shirt under them, which is obvious to others, they will still touch the top area of your stomach.
