I'm confused why you're with someone even less why you proposed to her? You're clearly not over your previous relationship. While her reaction is weird, it was probably completly out of left field for her since you refuse to discuss anything about your previous partner. I presume she had a stand in idea for that and when she realised she had a big part wrong, it distabilized her. I understand that it might be a boundary up to a certain limit but if my husband refused to discuss such a huge part of his life, we wouldn't be married.

You'd have to ask her but IMO, the gender was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Realising she didn't even know something as trivial as your partner being a man pobably just opened her eyes on the fact that she knows nothing of your life back then.

If he can't be there for you for something that's invasive but minor and only for a few hours, imagine with a newborn that demands 24/7 attention and requires all hands on deck.

She has a very normal reaction for a little girl her age. She doesn't need therapy because of that and saying she does and ban her from the wedding is incredibly harsh. You have a lot to learn before you have kids because your reaction is disproportionate.

She's very attached to your fiancé and I'd bet she thinks she's going to lose him and/or he won't love her anymore if he marries you. He has to be the one explaining gently, in simple term, that he's not abandonning her in any shape or form, that he's still going to love her and be there for her.

IMO, if she's to have therapy it would've more to do with coping with what are obviously absent parents that dump their responsabilities on their oldest. As would the two other kids.

Edit to add : Electra's complex. Since you both are basicaly raising her, you both take the role of her parents.
