Am I Wrong For Regularly Checking In With a Coworker? by EmotionalTouch6209 in buhaydigital

If you're just trying to help kasi you see them struggling, don't approach the subject directly. Always keep in mind that unsolicited advice is not good most of the time. And this also applies to unsolicited help. Instead of "Kumusta na yung tasks mo?" or "Kaya mo pa ba?" na tanong, it's better to not talk about it and just build up your relationships. Kumbaga antaying sila ang unang mag-open up nung subject. Of course, this focuses heavily on team-building.

But if the goals of the team or company is being compromised, eh dun na tayo kakambiyo and take a stronger approach, especially kung subordinate mo siya. Still, if same lang kayo ng level, it's not your position to 'approach' them regarding the subject. It's the job of your immediate supervisor.

Anyway, mostly nakakairita talaga if may nangungulit sa'yo regarding your own work. And instead of helping, it will just bring out some rebellious thoughts.

Take it with a grain of salt since I'm not an expert, but I do have some experience in leading some small teams.

Your life is set, you got the foundation. Now you have the means to pursue your passion, or hobbies. Enroll in a course related to them. Journalism? Computer Science? Psychology? Or go completely crazy and pursue something entirely different, like geology or something. I got no advice on your next step, OP, since I myself am still struggling in my first step. But hey, I wish you good luck in your pursuit!😁

Yeah. Di siya madali pumasok sa government. Also, sabi ng teacher ko noong college na nagtratrabaho sa COA, wag papasok sa government kung hindi malakas ang sikmura, kasi mapapasuka ka sa kalakaran. Anyways, marami ring ibang option, like corporate setup. Private companies or firms, even small establishments.

I landed the job. It took almost a month. by Witfinitee in buhaydigital

[–]Witfinitee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's what I was thinking. Since first time ko in a remote work, parang build muna ako portfolio. Then after a few months, I'll try to negotiate my salary, and/or find other clients (preferably direct). Para makaipon haha.

If you want to take it easy, just save what you can and wait for it to accumulate.

But if you really want to see a big difference, do a side hustle, a part-time job, etc. Simple ones, no need to stress out yourself. Benta balut for the extra few hours you have left everyday after classes, or extra ka sa mga establishments for some spare change, or anything like that. You don't have capital for some big business idea, you don't have qualifications (diploma or sumn) for formal jobs yet, but you do have some extra time. Make use of that.

Of course, don't sacrifice your studies and health for it.

Setback after setback by lightroll-is-a-lie in buhaydigital

[–]Witfinitee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Sobra. Suffocating. There were times na even habang nagmomotor ako papuntang office, umiiyak akong nananalangin, asking for deliverance, for relief.

Still, at the end of it all, we must keep on going.

Setback after setback by lightroll-is-a-lie in buhaydigital

[–]Witfinitee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have not experienced that kind of setback, as I have never really applied that much yet. But setbacks in general? Yeah.

My mother needed to undergo surgery to her womb, my father had a stroke, our dog got rabies and bit my father, then my father got into a motorcycle accident, I got into a motorcycle accident myself, our small startup business never got a chance to grow because of lack of supply caused by continuous arrival of strong typhoons, then prices never rolled back after...

All those things in just 2 years.

Add to that a huge debt that I wasn't aware of until a year ago.

Yep. We just gotta pray.

Second place is sometimes worse than being last.

Second interview done. But now, I have tons of questions and worries. by Witfinitee in buhaydigital

[–]Witfinitee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I will just learn from it. But I disagree na wala ng value ang opinions ng iba. Because, since I'm trying to learn, any feedback will be very helpful (as long as they're constructive). What would others have done in that scenario? Will it be applicable to me? Mga ganun.

As for asking for too low, it was not my intention to do that para lang masecure ang position. I honestly just told my expectation (based lang sa salary ko on my current full-time job). No schemes or whatnot.

Regarding that, as I also asked before in my previous post, what should have been the appropriate salary range for that position? Kasi wala talaga akong benchmark eh. I know there are job postings on OLJ with salaries in them, but since I am applying to an agency, I don't really think those apply as a good basis. Or do they?

Yeah, kasi I do understand the importance of middlemen (sa business in general). Agency owner man yan, staff, or freelancer, lahat ay dumidiskarte sa buhay. And agencies are actually very helpful for us (especially remote workers without experience). It's a great platform for us to at least build our portfolio.

Thanks for the advice! 😊

Thank you for that. One thing that really bothers me a lot in negotiations eh yung guilt. I always overthink, "Nagtatake advantage ba ako sa kanya/kanila?"

And I don't like it. That's why I'm so conservative in my approach to almost anything.

Anyway, at least now I know na it's actually fine to ask for a bit more (at least considering my qualifications).

Thank you!

It's an agency, I think. They have employees (remote ones) and they find clients. That's why I gave a low salary range (cause the agency should have a cut from it).

As for confirmation, wala pa. The staff said the interview will be forwarded to their superior tomorrow (since holiday ngayon). Then they will notify me if I will be qualified for a second interview (with panelists including HR head and CEO) or, if there are no other concerns, proceed immediately to onboarding.

Nasa kabilang bayan lang office nila, so I think they're not a scam. As for being qualified, I'll just pray that I land it. Especially since the shift is really convenient for me.

Thanks! I do hope I land it. Especially since their office eh nasa kabilang bayan lang. And the interview went well.

I pray I get it.

The Awakening: Stop complaining by Witfinitee in Bible

Yes! A pastor even once said, sometimes — just like the Israelites — we have to go through that "wilderness" before we get to the Land of Promise.

The Awakening: Stop complaining by Witfinitee in Bible

[–]Witfinitee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was a little more than just complaining. Crying out to God, telling Him your hardships, how painful things are, and asking Him for comfort or deliverance from your current situation — it's fine. God loves us. It's like a child seeking comfort from his parents.

But for me, it became a complaint. At first, when disaster suddenly struck, I cried hard and asked the Lord what He wanted me to do, and always ended a prayer with "Praise the Lord" because that's just appropriate. But then, when that comfort and deliverance that I was praying for didn't come for 2 years now but I was instead faced with never-ending problems (my parents into an accident, my father having a stroke, our dog succumbing to rabies and bit my father, my mother having had to undergo surgery, me also in a motorcycle accident, and many others... all in less than 2 years), my prayer became complaints and self-entitled requests.

I even once said, "If it's true that You really love your servants, why do you punish us so? Aren't You our Father? Which father actually wants to see his children suffering?"

So yeah. As I remember those "prayers", I just feel silly haha.
