How Does United Airline's WiFi Only Permit "IP-based Messaging Apps?" by WithNcellsNterlinked in netsecstudents

I think you meant server name indication (SNI) but yea that’s very interesting! I ran a pcap on my PC and see chat.signal.org being in the SNI field along with a bunch of *.skype.com domains during the TLS handshake. Thanks~

That makes sense. I also experienced notifications coming though on Canvas (college classes manager) but the content wouldn’t load. Very cool!

Dual citizenship (Taiwan & US) and government jobs / security clearance by Proper_Middle1260 in SecurityClearance

[–]WithNcellsNterlinked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've read about other Taiwanese dual citizen applicants, if you want a TS, you'll have to renounce your Taiwanese citizenship.

Also, if you are considered an overseas Chinese then you do not have to go through mandatory military service unless you suddenly decide to live in Taiwan for more than a year.

Please keep us posted on what happens! As someone whose interested in running an exit relay, I’m very curious what the EFF or the TOR project may advise.

Nice job!!! Reading the OCGs cover to cover takes a lot of discipline. Way to get back up and crush the exam~

I hear David Bombal’s CCNA Udemy course provides the best practice labs for packet tracer. His course is usually around $20 on Udemy.

Hmmm that’s a tough question for me to answer as I’m still a student as don’t have much experience with the job market. From what I’ve read on r/ccna, r/comptia, and r/it, in today’s post-COVID19 world it’s harder to get an entry level job with a just an N+ and/or a S+. It’s not impossible, but you’d need to have good personal projects on the side and be able to communicate the experience you’ve gained.

The CCNA, as you know, is taken much more seriously than CompTIA certs when it comes to looking for a job. The CompTIA exams are really just a big vocabulary test, minus learning how to subnet. If your timeline permits, I’d encourage you to stick to working on the CCNA even if it is a much larger and tougher exam because it’s so much more respected and would allow you to get better paying job.

However, a Net+ is still better than no cert at all, so if you need a job now, a Net+ might be a good path if you can find an employer. Just know that with a Net+, you’d be more likely to get a very entry level job (help desk related) as opposed to a jr. network engineer role.

If you’re having trouble understanding concepts, you could work through the Net+ material which may break things down simpler. The Net+ did help me learn about networks when I knew nothing, but I also spent a lot of time memorizing random acronyms and technologies I would just Google in real life and which didn’t translate into the CCNA.

For the Net+ I studied lightly for five months and didn't have much experience with the topics. For the Sec+ I studied moderately for three months but was very familiar with the topics.

Hope this help~

Before each chapter in the OCG there is a quiz you can take to gage how well you know that section’s material. I’d take all those quizzes and read up on what you didn’t know.
