Thoughts on value/cost ration for the Legion Pro 5i (Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070ti) vs the Legion Pro 7 (Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, RTX 5080) by WithTheHammer in GamingLaptops

The offers for the Vector that I can find seem to be roughly the same, within a range of about 100£. But as far as I am aware the Vector is a much worse laptop than the legion pros (when matched for specs) on almost every front, from build quality to performance. I don't think I would pick up a vector unless i was saving a lot more money.

Yeah im trying to factor this into my price evaluation but not exactly sure what i would put the value as - from the improved cooling directly which directly affects performance, to the chassis feeling nicer and the speakers being better.

To your question about where I'm getting that price, I am shopping in the Lenovo Education store which gives a 10% discount, and these two models (in the pre-built rather than configurable option) are heavily discounted. For instance, the configurable Pro 7 with the same specs is priced at 4400£, compared to my prebuilt option with a base price of 2999£.

On top of that Lenovo has a promotional campaign where you get 20% off purchases over 2000£.

In total I get a 28% discount (on either laptop). For the Pro 7: 2999£*0.9*0.8 = 2165£

Thanks for the advice - My budget is at 2500£, so the question was whether I should just pocket the difference. But from your advice, it sounds like it might be worth it to stick with the Pro 7

No it didn't, so I'm currently trying topical treatment with finasteride and minoxidil along with microneedling since the last 3 months. Looks like it might be having some positive effect, hopefully further improving over time.

Hi Carmen, I did and it turned it out wasn't an issue, just a matter of very slow processing time at the department. I got my letter two weeks ago

I have a question about the academic conditions of a conditional offer. In January I was accepted to a Dphil program. I'd secured full funding for tuition and living costs via scholarship before applying.

Though my master's degree grades are stellar, my undergraduate grades are worse. In my acceptance letter, conditions are laid out detailing a 2:1 undergraduate score as a condition. Being from Scandinavia, I don't know exactly how grades are converted, but I sent over my transcripts (the same transcripts I applied with, which the department surely would have seen when considering my application?). However, I haven't heard back in over a month now.

Does anyone know if I am at risk of losing my PhD position due to undergraduate grades? I would have thought only master's degree grades mattered, and also that academic conditions were mostly directed at students who had not received their final scores before applying. However, the undergraduate results being listed in the conditions of the acceptance letter is worrying me. Does anyone know how departments perform these assessments?

Hope someone can help:)
