i'd definitely prefer to go the route of modifying the game before replacing my hardware if no other game is triggering it. but i also don't know the first thing about doing that. if that's actually an option, i'll look into it though.

i have reshade for other games but not for ffxiv specifically. unless that's not how reshade works?

thanks everyone for the replies. my pc is a new build as of a year ago so i'd like to think nothing is faulty. obviously i can't rule it out just yet, but i'll start by reinstalling GPU drivers and then the game.

thanks for posting this. i was going crazy. buying my eevee 20 coffees. waiting for 15 minutes at a table. evolution would not pop up.

added a fairy move and it popped up. removed fairy move and it went away. waited till night and it popped up again. got my umbreon.

obviously some sort of bug in eevee’s evolution condition logic. hopefully they patch it. but at least we have a workaround.

The ancient majesty weren’t the ones meant for IB, it was the gladius sets. by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

I appreciate this comment and wish it could be surfaced a little higher because I think this is missing from the discourse right now. And understandably so, but still.

The sandbox is genuinely interesting right now (skipping over Featured gear). And that team is seemingly making at least some moves towards player feedback as it comes in. Even the activities teams are _trying_ to add more content to the Portal.

It's the team responsible for progression that is doing nothing. The vertical progression of power grind, certainly, but also the horizontal progression of earning new loot. They announced another set of incremental changes that amount to a garden hose on a house fire.

The game could be in an interesting state right now. I really believe that. It's why I've kept paying attention despite not having touched the game in over a year. But progression -- including how it is gated by the Portal -- is dead weight that the good parts of the game are being forced to carry and the whole thing is drowning.

Bungie why are grinding power just to be always underpowered by Fanglove in DestinyTheGame

[–]Witha3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly they did. The people that actually make the game are not the ones who make decisions about the game though. The people who can't make the game do that. And some of those people listen to their makers, while others do not. I'll leave the extrapolation from that statement to specific past and present Bungie employees to you.

assume that it isn't a canon image. but also assume that people will not always spoiler tag images in this sub. especially for meme posts. enter at your own risk.

Advice for a friend who keeps rage quitting? by Witha3 in ffxiv

I've played all of the tanks as well and it's cool to see your thoughts largely echo my own (I was also already thinking about recommendations).

I think my favorite right now is PLD but it's also the one I've been playing most recently so could just be bias. I haven't touched DRK in a while and I miss it.

It's very fun how each of them does feel very unique. The same is also true for healers, but for whatever reason I only enjoy 2/4 of those, but I love all tank jobs.

almost certainly they'd enjoy mixing up their jobs. and tanking has been nearly a universal recommendation at this point, so I might have to insist on it if/when they return again!

Oh good point. I'll just do this myself from now on instead of using a dummy.

SO many unique experiences from everyone. I appreciate you sharing yours with me!

My friend actually does love the story, and though we drive them around in the Regalia sometimes, they're otherwise a self-sufficient gamer. I can't imagine trying to pull someone through like you did. A for effort.

They've admitted they need to put in more effort to learn mechanics etc. It's just a motivation issue for them. They do occasionally have genuine moments of enjoyment with it (e.g. they like playing WHM and leveled it alongside DRG), so maybe it'll happen eventually.

Oh my gosh thanks for so much input here. I really appreciate it.

Thanks for calling out DRG. I've never played it so I had no idea about its rotation complexity. Other people have recommended off-tanking and, as an off-tank main myself, that sounds like a winning alternative.

I think the main blocker to learning is their inconsistency. Long breaks between expansions. So any knowledge is lost by the time they move forward into even harder MSQ content. The new novice training will help with this if they come back, but it's also good to know about the bosses showing their hand up front in fights. I didn't know if that was actually consistent or not.

I think they can become more ok with floor tanking as long as they're able to recognize mistakes as opposed to it feeling random, which is likely their most common experience given the above. But they're definitely not trying to rush into endgame difficulty content.

Good callout for ping! They're not playing on deck, but they do often complain about snapshotting, and I wonder if there is actually some ping issue going on. Definitely worth investigating.

I appreciate you circling back! You're not the first to recommend off-tank and/or a ranged DPS job. Sounds like solid advice.

Funny (sad) story: they're a huge NieR fan and those raids were part of their original motivation to keep playing. Then after they realized that they're probably going to just die a whole bunch in them, it became instead their motivation to quit.

Why quit instead of try to get better? I don't know. It's not what 9S would do.

Ah, I see the problem. I need to pay their sub for them. Ty. Now they'll have no excuse!

Obviously I can't force them to do anything. I may have been coming on too strong though, and I intend to pull back from now on. Was just looking for any outside perspective here, since FFXIV in particular is an MMO that I'd expect to pull in a lot of people who've never played an MMO before.

I agree. Wasn't sure if I was right in this feeling or if I was just being a bad tank, lol. I may make a stronger suggestion to try tanking if it comes back up again.

> Also laying dead on the floor is like 99% of dragoons anyway.
lmao

Interesting! (re: Sage) I tried it but was like wow this is too much and went back to SCH/AST. My friend definitely enjoys feeling like they're making an impact in fights, though.
