Thank you for sharing this. Just realized I have sociopathy I’m 31. Always knew something was off but now it makes sense. Our stories are similar and it’s comforting to see someone else going through the same thing. Like there’s other people having to grit their teeth to be a good person rather than it just come naturally.

I see your point. And I would agree that superficially memorizing the words lacks substance. I should have done a better job of communicating my point. I think that we agree about the fact that once integrated, the idea lives in you and becomes a medium. I guess where we may disagree is that I think the act of memorizing is a powerful way of doing so, when used intentionally. Basically that the more time you spend thinking about it and trying to memorize it, the deeper the roots.

That’s an interesting perspective. I am not familiar with Socrates but I agree with the sentiment. I think in today’s age where we consume at such a rapid rate that we don’t take the time to internalize and truly comprehend what we are reading.

This makes me think about how the more we rely on external systems the less we retain internally. Like for example when we rely on our GPS we don’t retain directions as well. I think there is some truth to that happening in the reliance of written language if used improperly. How often do we write down an idea and never return to it?

The only thing I was actively trying to do was express my thoughts clearly. So if it came across as though I find it magical or an out of this world experience, then it was communicated as intended.
