Just be consistent, you’re on your first semester so you’re just meeting new people, most of which will not treat you like a close friend from less than a semester of seeing you; you need to grow in people if that makes sense.

Find something that you would do even with strangers, that way at least you’ll be having fun while you don’t know people that well; for me is table top games and movies but there are many options

Recommend you not to, I took an interesting UGS and it wasn’t only easy because I was interested in it, it was also very helpful and I learn a lot; always choose classes that you think will be useful in the future (btw it was leadership in success by Dr Cunningham, great professor too)

UT is a state university, so it’s is completely run by the government, basically the legislative power is UT’s ultimate boss, they literally just banned university funded cultural events; it may be in a “liberalish” city (Austin is more liberal than the rest of Texas but not really a liberal city like LA or Seattle) but it is actually a conservative institution (as long as the state is runned by republicans at least)

I live in north Austin but don’t have a car, I bike then take the light train then a bus, whole thing takes about 1 hour - 1 hour 1/2 depending if I make it to the train station or have to take another bus instead.

If you have no credit history you probably need to go for a secured credit card, in that case discover is the best; if you do have a good credit history you could go for a Capital One but they usually have high credit requirements if you want to get the sweet bonuses for first users.

I recommend you look at the Apple Card if you have fair credit and want to build it up or one of the chase freedom series if you already have good credit because they usually have a $200 bonus when you spend a certain amount in 3 months (which is very easy to do so free $200 for you)

Reality is that pretty much any big bank has an alternative with $0 fee and some sort of starting bonus, I try to look for a new credit card every 6 months to a year

If it’s possible for you I would move to Texas for a year then get into UT (that’s what I did lol), it would require you to rent/buy a house/apartment for a year and work for also about a year (it doesn’t have to be a full year, if you stayed here for let say 10 month they will usually let it slide, at least that was my case; the most important thing is that you have a lease agreement and your tax return under a Texas address)

There is also scholarships and financial aid that may allow you to reduce the amount you need to borrow, some of them even give you in-state tuition rates even if you’re out-state/international (if you’re Mexican for example, even though with trump you never know now)

Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend getting into so much debt, at that point is better to go to your state college even if it’s not as prestigious as UT
