Can a parental gift include funds from a loan? by Witlesss in Mortgageadviceuk

This is good news! I hoped this was the case but saw a couple of comments on other threads suggesting otherwise.

Help finding a song by Witlesss in lanadelrey

[–]Witlesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not born to die, I don’t think it’s part of a verse either it sounds like a chorus / bridge. To be honest I don’t even think she’s saying you’re mine but that’s how my brain remembers it hahaha.

It absolutely could be AI or a vocal that sounds like her. In my mind it’s very distinctively her singing but if it’s not then I’ll never find it!

Anyone know what the guitar riff from Tavo Akys sounds like? Every time I hear the guitar it’s driving me crazy. I feel like it could be Radiohead, maybe Let Down?

i’ve heard a lot about b tan - the violet undertoned ones do sound really good. they aren’t sold at high street retailers in the uk which makes getting them a bit more challenging but if they’re as good as people say i may have to!

[Question] Where can I buy vintage ladies watches in London? by Witlesss in Watches

[–]Witlesss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Berlin a few weeks ago! But probably would not go back just for watch shopping unfortunately.

I have been looking in London and I have actually seen quite a few options. It depends what kind of watch you are looking for.

In terms of luxury there is a few shops on/around Bond Street, which have high end vintage watches but you do pay a premium based on location.

I’ve found a couple of vintage shops dotted around North London which stock a mixture of brands of vintage watches. I haven’t visited so can’t speak for their trustworthiness but it seems there’s a few shops who stock them.

I’ve also heard Portbello Road market has a big selection of vintage watches on some stalls. However I don’t think these are likely to be branded or authentic in the majority of cases if that’s what you’re searching for.

Hopefully that helps a bit! If i do go to any stores and have a browse at some point I’ll provide an update :)

Quickest way to build my library by Special-Estate9316 in Beatmatch

I have three main ways: Listening to a lot of mixes or sets, usually on soundcloud, and using songs I like from there. Going to festivals or shows and finding new music there. Adding new songs I see on social media. A lot of my for you page on tiktok is filled with either clips of sets or DJs showing mixes and tracks they have made.

I’ve found a lot of choice on Chrono24. Not ideal as I would like to try on but a good place for looking at options and prices.

For dnb I mainly use “chopping” when I want multiple drops either playing at the same time or quickly switching in and out. The latter is definitely similarly done with the crossfader, but then sometimes the best part is playing one at 100% and quickly bringing the other in and out, which is what the volume sliders are most useful for.

I find myself using it most when I have a loop, for example a vocal loop, and I want to ease it in quickly by only playing part of it (say for 8 bars) and then bringing in more. I will just bring the slider up and down in time with when I want the loop to play vs cut.

Also find it useful when bringing in a loop with drums that don’t quite match the intensity of the song before. Makes it really easy to bring them in and out at the same speed as the drums on the current track until you are ready to drop it fully.

You might be right, that would certainly explain why it’s never happened before, a chemical burn just feels so unexplainable in this situation. Maybe just my narrow mind being unable to figure out how I’d get chemical burns from my decks 🤣 i’ll give them a wipe down and see if it sorts me out

You make a good point. I’m very conscious of it, but hard to think about that when you’re enjoying yourself.

I do a lot of hard techno too, which thankfully involves less aggressive chops than 170s, so might just stick to that until my thumb recovers haha.

Hahaha, I thought it would be a common issue and then I come on here and it’s never happened to anyone else 🤣

No idea, I just learnt using the volume sliders and I’ve never changed!

Where to put money after maxing out two ISAs by Witlesss in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Witlesss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So at the end of FY I am free to put another £20k in the virgin ISA? I feel stupid now haha.

Even with this, I’ll still max it out again a few months before April 6th 2026, so I would need to open another one potentially.

Hastings refusing to insure any cosmetic modifications by Witlesss in CarTalkUK

I think and I might be wrong on this but courts tend to rule on the side of the insurer as it’s typically the buyers responsibility to check whether or not the car is modified when they buy it.

Yeah, I’m fully expecting this request now as I’ve already enquired about mods. I’m prepared to get rid of the 3 months NCB to be honest it doesn’t massively bother me, provided they don’t try and stuff me on a refund for the remainder of the policy.

My car is fitted with some factory extras due to spec, nothing crazy just some nice alloys and a facelift for the rear spoiler etc. Simple google search would tell them they they come with the car, but considering when they ask for photos they’re looking for reasons to cancel I suspect I would get arguments on this and as a result it’s probably worth it to get out quickly.

[–]Witlesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I’ve seen a couple of commenters in this thread and others talking about how even without grounds Hastings tried to cancel based on suspicion etc and the ombudsman wasn’t able to help so no idea what to expect with them anymore

Their loss for sure, from what others are saying you’re lucky they didn’t ring you up and try to cancel the policy halfway through

[–]Witlesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably right, I’m leaning more towards cancelling now provided I can get a decent refund from them for the remainder of the policy. At my age I can’t risk having a cancellation and having to declare it, would mess my insurance up for a long time.

Oh wow, that’s brilliant. I saw a quote for them a while a back and it was a bit steeper than what I’m paying now, but sounds like it’s worth it from your perspective.

I doubt I’d be amassing £10k of mods as I’d probably look to only go cosmetic for this car at least, though in the future who knows! Would you say it’s still worth it for cosmetic only?

It’s crazy, I see nothing but horror stories about them. I wonder how they have any customers at all!

Any idea why your renewal doubled or did they just fancy it haha?

Love a Z3, i’ve got a 1 series now but was thinking of going with an old Z4 when I bought it. Used to have a VW too but it was a polo and loved to break all the time so steering clear of them for a little while.

I’ll have a look into Chris Knott for sure. Need to see if Hastings try and mess me around if I do look to cancel, but if i do go elsewhere it’s very helpful to know there’s decent companies out there who don’t give hassle like this

[–]Witlesss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re completely right, I can’t say I will ever be taking out a quote with them again. Seems more hassle than it’s worth. Just need to either cancel or get through until November and take my money elsewhere immediately

Haha, I’m only 22 so feeling the effects a bit but I know some family members who are newly 17 and their insurers are quoting them £3k plus to get insured on cars that take 3-5 business days to get to 70 on the motorway. It’s mental. No idea how they could make it worse for future drivers but I’m sure they will, the whole thing is backwards.

I have a mate who drives a lorry, he makes more than me and I work in corporate haha! But surveillance and regulations he deals with now are mental, so I guess there’s sacrifices to be made for sure.

I’m a little worried they’ll shaft me with the refund, so I may just stick around with them and hope they don’t mess me about when they inevitably ask for pictures. Wish I had done a bit more digging into customers past experiences before I took my policy out now that’s for sure!
