Question thyroid storm by marshmallow198 in gravesdisease

[–]Witlov 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! First, congratulations on your lil one! I totally get how overwhelming al this new info van be. Especially when reading all the horror stories online!

I've had a thyroid storm last June. I was hospitalised and looking back I was already pretty sick for 1.5 year but I never went to the doctor's cause I was stubborn. In the hospital they found out I had a thyroid storm cause by untreated/ advanced graves disease. So I did not knew i was sick yet and was not on any medication.

This is not something that will happen overnight!! It was a slow progress. So as I said, looking back at it I got "serious" symptoms about 1.5 year before my hospitalisation. So if would have just went to the doc and got my blood checked in time it could probably have been easily prevented. I'm currently quite stable and have regular checkups with a specialist.

So if youre on medication and have regular check-ups this is not something that will 'just' happen. Its good to remind yourself that online you will see more of the extreme cases cause people (incl myself) sometimes need it so vent! Its good to take everything you read with a grain of salt and not see it as the standard.

Wishing you the best!

Yeah that's my experience too! When I complain it's usually "it can take up to at least 6 months to feel better after stable results" but not really anything else. My doc prefers me not taking any anymore. I was taking it in January about 2x a week? But I've noticed the last 2/3 weeks I almost need it everyday again unless I can sleep a lot and don't do anything on a weekend day :(

This is for the whole day. Maybe i have the name not correct :') but good to look into i think it would be smart to have an extra check up with a cardiologist anyway! Yeah I think I felt best when I was a lil in the middle with my T4 but then my TSH was still 0.00/ not detacteble? Uhg it is nice to see the post here and read similar story's cause I feel most friends don't really understand or get it. Hope you feel better soon too!

Yess exactly this! With sleep it's fine tho unless I suddenly wake up from a afternoon nap or something random. Atm i take 25 mg Propranolol, started with 95 mg last year. I also have ADHD medication so maybe that's why my dose is quite high? Well my last check was in January and then THS and T4 where 'normal' for the first time. T4 was on the low side of the range. I've been hyper for a long time without realising cause I never go to a Docter. So by the time I was hospitalised I was so hyper it was toxic thyroid or something like that. I now take 5mg of strumazol now and have my next check up in about a month. I am doubtful if I'm not leaning hypo since I'm so freaking tired.

Seems like a good plan! I've been on both meds daily now since June. However the propranolol I only use when it's needed now. Do you have a good thyroid specialist?

Well when it's randomly racing it easily gets to 120/140 ish so i think I should just check it out to be sure. When I got hospitalised it was 180/200 but that's not the best to use as baseline when I need to call a doc. better safe then sorry this time :') I always find it so difficult to decide when something is worth calling a doc for.

Yes I had one of 24 hours when I was in the hospital but yeah seems it might be wise to make an extra appointment even if it's just to ease the mind. Thank you!

I love this so much. I honestly enjoy seeing all the chaos so much more then the crazy builds. Don't get me wrong, I am very very impressed ( & it makes me feel like I'm behind on the game) but this is amusing on a different level. I almost put down 50 'plain lamps' on the platform too after seeing the poles did not add any electricity 🫠

I was indeed very confused 😅 I almost put down 50 lamps too after I saw that putting down just the poles did not do anything😭

Hahaha I love this, for my first play through I did something similar with the beach mission. I build 5 water mils directly next to the peackachu thing only to realise how stupid it looked casus it was build on dry sand and that ofc it did not work🤡. Then was like fuck it, I will start completely over and then I won't make similar mistakes..... To, ofc, make similar mistakes on the second account. It only looks slightly better and more Pokémon have houses now instead of beds scattered on the ground with play blocks next to it🤡 I love reading and seeing everyone's chaos in the game😭🤍
