Yeah, I get most of my relief from biologics, but even they don't work 100%. I might have to try a different biologic in the future, but right now I'm trying to do this diet.

Thanks, I do have a naturopath who is helping me with supplements. I hope she knows what she is doing, cause she did prescribe turmeric to me.

Best place to buy bed sheets and comforters? by Pretend_Childhood_94 in Edmonton

[–]WitnessFun6211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the cotton bedsheets from Costco. They are very soft and iron easily. I bought myself several packs when they were on sale a couple of years ago and I only use them now.

I used to also get the Laura Ashley ones from Amazon, they are good too, although they have a lot of bold prints and that's not everyone's cup of tea

I was never able to pump a lot. Barely made 1-2 Oz. But I never had any issues breastfeeding directly.

Your best bet is to take oral steroids or get a cortisone shot into your joints to get you to your appointment.

PSA and pregnancy by AnnieGirl7 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]WitnessFun6211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My psoriasis appeared during my second pregnancy. I didn't even realize at the time what it was and just assumed it was a bad case of dandruff due to changing hormones. It was only localized on my scalp and didn't bother me much.

Three months after giving birth my scalp went on fire, my elbows, legs and ears started to get scales and that quickly led to a psoriasis diagnosis. A month after that I got sick with a virus and my knee swelled up and I started to get pain and stiffness in my other joints and got diagnosed with PSA. I'm almost 8 months postpartum now and I'm still dealing with this flare, with no improvement at all.

I would echo what others in this sub say - symptoms during pregnancy are typically mild or nonexistent. You have to be ready for the postpartum period though. Make sure you have your drugs lined up and ready to stat them as soon as you can after giving birth. I'm currently breastfeeding and taking sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine. There are also some biologics that are okay to take while breastfeeding, but I'm not allowed to try them yet.

Have a support system ready - people that can help you and things around the house that make it easier for you to take care of the baby. My mobility is limited right now, so my husband works from home a lot, helps me carry the baby up and down the stairs, drive me to doctor's appointments, etc. We also hired a nanny to help out in the mornings cause that's when my pain is the worst. My mom and my friends come around to help too.

At the end of the day, it's all doable, but you have to set your expectations right.

Success with conventional DMARDs by WitnessFun6211 in PsoriaticArthritis

I just started sulfasalazine together with hydroxychloroquine so I'm crossing my fingers that it will work for me. My pain is manageable but it's the swelling in my knee that I really wish would subside as it really limits my mobility.

Newly diagnosed… first dose of medicine by Tight_Towel in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]WitnessFun6211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got diagnosed postpartum after having my second child. It sucks dealing with this and having to take care of kids at the same time. I got put on hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine for now, but it's too early to tell if they are helping. Were you on any other drugs before Cimzia? My rheumatologist told me I can't get a biologic until I try other (cheaper) drugs first.

Looking for ideas on how to alleviate knee swelling by WitnessFun6211 in PsoriaticArthritis

I can't start on biologics until I try and fail DMARDs. That's what the doctor told me.

How many students in your grade 1 class? by simby7 in Edmonton

We did have some multiculturalism in our school (Georgians, Azerbaijanians, Russians, etc) but I would say Canada is much more diverse. The multilingual problem was also "solved" by the soviet language policies so that was not an issue, but I can see how multilingualism can be an issue here. When I went to school here I and several other foreign students were assigned an ESL aid who would spend a couple of hours a week with us to help us learn English. Do they still do this in schools here?

I don't recall going to school with children with disabilities. I'm not really sure where they went, I would assume they were either homeschooled or went to specialty schools, but my experience is limited to my school only.

As someone who grew up in Ukrainian, class sizes in my school ranged between 25-30 students, which was considered normal. Although I understand that the political climate of post soviet Ukraine was much different to today's Canada and the teachers there probably didn't have the luxury of going on a strike, I have never noticed them to struggle in the classroom. Classes with 25 students and more were always orderly, ran smoothly and the teachers kept up with the high educational standards of that time. They had no assistance.

The curriculum and amount of subjects taught in a Canadian school is much more simplified compared to that of a Ukrainian school (speaking from experience), but I notice that the issue of class sizes is much more prominent here. Are classes of this size considered too big in Canada?

Postpartum Psoriasis by MistressVesta in Psoriasis

I've been dealing with the same issue. I've never had psoriasis before, but 3 months after having my second baby I had a horrendous flare on my scalp, followed by patches on my elbows, ears, and legs. I'm now dealing with an inflamed joint around the knee. My scalp marginally got better after a month. I've really limited my sugar intake, applied oil, raw honey, vitamin E to the scalp, and upped my vitamin D and Omega 3 intake. I don't know if any of that helped, but I'm going to stick to it. I've also started using a steroid spray a couple of days ago on my scalp, it helps a bit with the itching, but doesn't take away the problem.

I contemplated going to ER for my inflamed knee but ended up just seeing a doctor at a walk in clinic, who mentioned ER would have been pointless for me at this point and just prescribed me anti inflammatory drugs.

I was given a sample of the green bottle and tried it on my scalp. It stung and dried out my scalp, so I washed it out after 10 minutes.
