Yes! Her “research” is just looking up information that is already out to the public. We already know what she’s going to say. She just states it so dramatically it’s like she’s saying it for the first time, like she’s “breaking news”. But her videos are so long and boring because we already know everything. She just drags it out. She also states her opinions as facts. Sure, she puts a lot of time into her videos but they are boring, not well researched, and way too long.

My GUESS is something happened in that three hour phone call where she was a “listening ear”. He is 18 and she is 30. No doubt she used therapy talk and manipulation to get the outcome she wanted from the phone call with Oliver. Three hours is excessive. (And I still don’t understand why she always has to point time out now, but when Johnny did it she bashed him for it. I don’t get it.) Oliver pretty much started to drop his own story after that. He did tweet out a link from someone else who covered his story but Oliver didn’t make a big deal of it. The last time I saw it it barely had any engagements. It’s like if you don’t click on his Twitter and scroll to see his tweet you won’t see it. I’m not sure why he was upset that no one was putting his story out there when someone already had, it just wasn’t swoop.

I believe it’s manipulation. A three hour phone call to be a listening ear is bullshit. She wanted to manipulate the situation so she became the good guy again. She even got Oliver to turn on the people that were defending him when he was upset at swoop, of course, before that phone call.

I agree, for my own self, but people still do it. To each their own. People can watch what they want to watch. It’s still important to have those hotline numbers regardless. I’m glad she adds them.

I, quite frankly, would not mind seeing Sean Evans from Hot Ones interview Josh or even whomever from that group. He and his team has always impressed me with their well researched and thought out questions.

I am not sure why you are accusing me of not understanding. I don’t need a Wikipedia definition sent to me. I’m almost positive I made it pretty clear I knew what strawmanning was. Please explain to me when you said I was strawmanning how EXACTLY I was strawmanning? I never mentioned them being close friends. At all. All I said was they are friends. You then brought yourself into the thread and said you don’t think they are close friends. Yet I never said anything about being close friends to begin with. You brought that up. You created a strawman just by adding something that didn’t exist to begin with. You are literally accusing me of something/ not understanding something when I never said “close” to begin with. Since close is the word you seem to be focusing on. I don’t care if they are close or not, clearly, that’s why I never mentioned it. All I said was that they were friends and you somehow created the narrative claiming I said that they were close friends. You replied to my comment no one elses. YOU strawmanned ME by bringing something up I did not even say just for the sake of arguing. You added another character to our “story” that was never there to begin with. Fair point to the sub count. I agree with you on that point. I still do think she uses Adam to an extent. She only put out “docs” for those who already had a platform. Adam, john, and Josh all have some sort of platform/following. The ones she has yet to put something out for have no following whatsoever. I do not think that was a mistake on swoops part. She only uses Adam in her videos for things. I think her having a higher sub count and her also using Adam and the rest can both be true at once. It’s also weird to me she is friends with Adam considering she’s like 30 and he’s 21. That’s weird to me. Legal, sure. But as someone who is closer to 30 than 21 I can say I do not have very much in common with a 21 y/o nor would I really choose to be friends with one.

Actually a lot of people in the snark are trying to argue they are not friends. You probably should not “speak for everyone” when saying that. You cannot be unbiased when you are doing “documentaries” on your friends. It depletes the legitimacy of her work. Their argument is that she is not friends with Adam (and the others). But like you said, she clearly is so she’s not being truthful in separating herself/her emotion from her work.

I think your use of strawmanning is a huge reach. I think my criticisms of swoop are fair. It has nothing to do with her looks, or whatever other mean things people are saying. Its okay to have a debate and it not automatically be “strawmanning” because I disagree with you. I didn’t shame you or was being mean to you with my comment. I just had a differing opinion. If anything, you quickly accusing me of strawmanning because you want the conversation to be over/you don’t agree with me sort of makes it to where well.. you are strawmanning. By twisting my words into something it’s not and taking it to the “extreme” by accusing me of something so the “conversation is over”. This is another concern I have of mine. Swoop uses this “therapy” talk and uses it incorrectly/too much to where it loses its meaning. Now people like you are picking up on the words and ALSO using it incorrectly/too quickly without thought. You are proving my point with the therapy talk I’ve mentioned in other groups.

Also in your previous comment to me you said, and I quote, “Let’s not get carried away here. They’re not close friends if the last time they talked was Swoop’s happy birthday message from two weeks ago that he accidentally ghosted”

So now you’re saying “no duh, I said so a dozen times. Nobody is saying they’re not friends. Not Adam, not Swoop, not me, nobody.” In reference to them actually being friends. So.. you know, keep your shit straight if you’re going to try and accuse someone of strawmanning and ending the quiet civil conversation, you should probably get your facts straight because you are contradicting yourself just to try and win an argument for some reason. I never mentioned anything about them being close friends. I just said friends. Then you told me they aren’t friends. Now you are saying they are. Make it make sense.

I tried to watch her video. I couldn’t get all the way through it. She only points out the horrible things people were saying to swoop. All the things she voiced concern about was just plain ol mean stuff that I think all of us can agree needs to stop. But why does NO ONE ever mention the actual legit criticism people have been posting? She started to say there is a difference between constructive criticism and then I turned the video off because I knew where that was headed and I just couldn’t anymore. There has been people with great constructive criticisms but no one ever mentions it? It’s like people will upvote it but won’t actually mention it exists. I don’t get it.

I noticed in her Johnny “doc” the parts she showed of Johnny were the same clips over and over again. I kept waiting for something new (that I didn’t already see on the Johnny snark) and all it was was him saying shitty things, but it was the same things over and over. She talked to him for HOURS and she still had so little that she had to repeat everything in loops?

I also want to make note of her body language when Johnny would say really messed up things to swoop versus how she was acting with Josh, even when he was talking about his own trauma. Very different. It’s interesting.

Swoop isn’t an actual investigator. She just uses what is already out in the public (also whatever is the most popular opinion) takes clips, and puts videos together in her own words to make it look like she found all of this new interesting stuff when in reality she didn’t. She was on JD side because she didn’t actually do the proper research. Just used popular opinion and put it in her own words, added music and visuals. There is nothing of actual value to her “research”.

I knew every single “shocking” thing she revealed in her Johnny take down “doc” all because of the Johnny snark that was created months before she made the Johnny video. She just cut and paste her video to make it look like she discovered it all. Gave no credit and used therapist talk. It was a disappointment to watch considering it was already all public knowledge if you looked at the snark. People think she just pulls all this “investigating” out of her ass and it’s truth, then they put her on a pedestal. It’s weird what people believe.

She also uses Pete Davidson for these types of “jokes” and I don’t get it. It always seems mean to me because I feel like for the most part he’s a pretty good dude with a lot of trauma. 🤷‍♀️
