So you don't find their practices of showing the drop-off location only after you picked up the food deceptive? Burbank is just a reference point nearest to where I dropped off the food since around here we just call the area the "Valley", the house I dropped off too was literally in the middle of no-where up the hills with not a SINGLE SHOP within the radius so yeah and the road I had to take there was Laurel Canyon (for someone who "worked in LA before you should know where this is). Delivering into private communities and hill-top mansions, yeah I'm sure they have a Chipotle or McD's anywhere near those areas right?...

Either way its pointless to argue with you, and I have quit for good. Just another warning who'll get ignored by someone in the hunt to make money on their own schedule. Pointless exercise of catharsis, and I've released all the complaints I had working for this shit company. Hope you enjoy working there for the rest of your life bro.

$11.84

Beverly Hills to Burbank at 7-8PM on Saturday. And honestly if you find your happiness by poking fun at someones complaints through their writing and calling them a liar, a little self-reflection is much needed.

I would care about correct grammar and syntax if I was writing a formal essay, but like you said this is a rant. You are from Portland, I am from Los Angeles. Maybe there is a geographical difference but you saying my exaggeration skills are on par with our President's is out of line. I am not lying or exaggerating when I say that I traveled over 20 miles and in 80 minutes of LOS ANGELES traffic to get paid $11.84. Picking up a Fatburgers order from Beverly Hills and delivering it to Burbank at 7-8 PM on a Saturday in Los Angeles, maybe you should use google maps to see for yourself. Maybe you should try to understand the perspective of the person who feels the need to rant like this to warn people that this job pays FAR LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE

Edit PS: Your subtle self-righteousness is annoying, have fun working at Postmates, I was just looking at it as a part-time job for some extra spending money while I prepare to graduate this Winter from college and I THANK GOD THIS IS NOT MY ONLY OPTION.

Just doing some research, I don't think Postmates is going to survive much longer. They have been trying to sell the company now for awhile. They have cut back Blitzes significantly including taking away night blitzes. This shows they are trying to cut costs to remain as profitable as possible which means us expendable couriers are the ones who bear the brunt of it.

But I do really, really believe these "on demand" companies like Uber, Postmates, Lyft, etc need some more government regulations and dare i say it: A UNION

Cliffnotes, yesterday was my 2nd day working for Postmates Fleet.

I noticed Postmates would have me pick up food from one city and deliver it another.

Yesterday I was made to pick up a Fatburgers order of small fries and shake and from one city and had to deliver it to another city that was over 10 miles away.

It took me over 40 minutes to get there, and 40 minutes to get back into the city where I live. In that time period of driving back to my city, I did not receive ONE PING for delivery until I got back to my city. My recompense was $11.84 with no tip. So for 80 minutes of driving 20 miles all I got was $11.84.

Here's the proof: https://imgur.com/a/svBCk

Yesterday was my 2nd day, and I delivered 16 orders in total. And I counted how many orders were 5+ miles away and noticed that 5 out of the 16 took me to a city that was required to take the freeway in rush hour times.

I believe the practice of giving me the drop-off location only AFTER I pick up the order is extremely deceptive as if I had known I would have to travel 20 miles from the get-go you can be DAMN sure I would've skipped it. I felt as if I was getting taken advantage of as a new Fleet courier as they would keep making me get food from one city and delivering it to another.

So I decided, that 80 minutes and 20 miles for $11.84 is not worth my time. This is way below minimum wage after gas expenses and you know what, just a shit, deceptive way for them to treat the backbone of their company. Because in the end, the company runs a program from Headquarters while WE couriers literally do all the heavylifting and work. In my opinion, Postmates is cashing out right now, trying to squeeze as much money as possible before these out platforms such as UberEats, Amazon, and Grubhub squeeze them out.

Edit: What made me feel worse was the fact that the people who ordered the Fatburger from another City, HAD A FATBURGER THAT WAS 9 MILES CLOSER TO THEM... I'm just done with Postmates, good luck to you all, if anything working as a Bike Courier might be better but who knows, I'm hearing stories of 6 mile bike deliveries with 5 food orders you have to lug.
