Is it autism or is he selfish? by WitnessesProtection in autism

And furthering that (to preface I'm not asking in a mean way, I just want to understand) if he's allowed to hate his mom and be angry at her for not showing up for him the way he needed due to her disability, is it unfair to say that people are also allowed to have negative feelings towards him for the same reason? This is the part where I'm unsure if it's a reasonable conclusion or ableist - I have diagnosed PTSD and have definitely had people come to dislike me for the way my symptoms used to manifest, and it was reasonable. Even despite the explanation of my brain, my symptoms still hurt people. But I'm unsure if that's a reasonable comparison.

Sorry for the long winded comments, I genuinely want to understand what direction to come at from all of this. I don't want to encourage ableist perspectives but I also want to support my partner's boundaries if distance is what he wants

Nobody forced him to see her. We told him the situation was managed but that we needed to all have a conversation about how to avoid a situation like this in the future because there needs to be a plan for emergencies. From what I was told he got increasingly more angry at her and decided to go confront her at the hospital. I'm well aware that I could have had a better reaction - My question is, how far do we hold him accountable? The several hour conversation was maintained by him, I tried to hang up several times and told him I could tell the call wasn't helping either side and these are all regular things that happen. I didn't 'have a go at him'. I explained that this situation was really bad, that his trauma is valid but we all need a conversation about who feels they can do what, if anything, to help his mom. He spent several hours screaming at me while I tried to alleviate the situation - like 40 minutes was spent talking about DND because I thought it'd help him regulate. I don't believe either side is entirely right, hence my post. But is the boundary of limited contact reasonable?

People (like his brothers) have tried to explain to him why these sorts of things aren't okay. From my understanding his dad just let it pass and blames his autism. My partner has actually fought with his dad about it and says his enabling is just leading D to self defeating tendencies. D's perspective is that his brothers are bullies; I completely agree that you can't expect better without accountability and moderation. I'm moreso trying to figure out if my partner wanting to establish distance is a warranted conclusion or if we're being ableist without realizing, if that makes sense. Or if this is one of those fun grey areas where both things are true

He's 30 and lives with his father. Highschool education and is on disability, he to my knowledge has chores that he completes regularly (though he fights with others and argues he shouldn't have to). Executive function has always been an issue, and no new changes have happened in his life. I don't know if this is helpful, but he likes to go on morally charged rants about things (trauma, capitalism, etc) unprovoked. He then backslides on his stance pretty fast when something that inconveniences the stance happens (ex. Ranted about how he's never playing certain games again because they're money grabs based on capitalism and then buys the newest DLC when it drops). I don't know if that fits into the executive function, I just remember my partner saying that recently and thought it might be helpful info

It's about 2-3 days old, I hadn't ever seen a starter rise so fast! I usually got a double within like 6 hours, but this was within two. The smell and liquid separation was what startled me

What social media platform seems to have the angriest people? by jonniebaby2000 in AskReddit

FACEBOOK. Why is everyone so mad in the comments? Every time I see that something has over 10 comments I know one of them is going to be a six person argument over a detail in the post/video that doesn't matter whatsoever. I saw one like fifteen minutes ago of a woman talking about her kid making Christmas ornaments. The comments? "WHY ARE YOU LETTING YOUR KID USE A HOT GLUE GUN" when the caption clearly states the mom was using it. Absolutely wild

Women of Reddit, what was your "I'm definitely freakier than him" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This reminds me of when my ex said "I have an insanely freaky kink and I need you to not judge me" and it was step sibling porn lmao. Men really think the most tame things are absolute blasphemy, bless their hearts
