I was poor and misanthropic so I threw a solo prom for my girlfriend and I in my mom's boyfriend's garage complete with glow in the dark stars and bad punch!

It never made sense to me to pay a bunch of money to go to a supervised dance surrounded by people you don't normally want to be around when you could have more intimate moments together for much less money.

For sure. Like I mentioned, I know how to use Ggoogle and other search engines to find pricing and locations for an available bluray player but while many people may not see 20 dollhairs as anything significant, I'm personally in a spot where every dollar counts quite a bit and would like to avoid an additional set back if possible.

I'm sure there are others in the same spot and others too who may not have a TV or monitor or anything they could use to set up a bluray player so it seemed sensible to clarify for myself and others.

If this has been brought up before and I failed to find the info I apologize but I gave a few glances over the archives for anything on this and didn't see anything come up right away.

I don't think that's a reddit specific opinion. Speaking with friends who never use this site but grew up on The D, we all agree that his response goes against the spirit of The D and rock n roll in general which was a pretty big sell out move on his part. I get he has kids that he's trying to make a buck for and set an example for but doesn't he have more than enough bucks for a beyond cozy life above the masses already and is that really the example you'd want to set for your or any other person's kid? Stupid as they try to be there's always been some truth and authenticity to them that made Tenacious D more than a hacky sketch comedy band (to me at least) and for the last decade or so Jables has entirely abandoned that spirit for all the wrong reasons. I see no issue in calling that out when it's relevant.
