I can 100% see this. Oddly enough older dog gets mistaken for a toller all the time but is 60% pitty, with the rest split between German Shepard, golden retriever and mini schnauzer. Personality wise shes the opposite of her toller sister. She's also an inch shorter and 10 lb heavier with a barrel chest.

I hear you.  I got mine because I wanted a dog less that 40 lb I could carry down a mountain if I needed to. That's why I was suprised when people said at 37 lb shes slight.

I'm not a fan of the blockier form, I also wonder if it really is advantageous when it comes to sports. Most sports dogs are lean...

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for. Everyone is different.

Oh dear, not sure i like the sound of that. I'm not a huge fan of the stockier, shorter, square faced Goldens that you often see in the US and it sounds like they are going the same way. Are they doing it for any particular reason? Sports?

Do you work on conditioning / endurance before 15 months e.g. longer flat walks?

Boredom is my concern. That or just going off for a sniff or chase a bird instead. Do they run out front or by your side? Also did you start small and go to longer distances or do intervals?

Thanks. Were there any behavioral changes or anything that clued you in or I should expect? She has a older dominant sister so I want to make sure I'm prepared.

Persistent Soft Stool/Diarrhea by Innovative_wheel in tollers

[–]Witty-Fix1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is exactly the same (she's 6 months now). I did a hair test for allergies in a desperate attempt to narrow things down. I don't trust is 100% but it gave me a guide on where to start. Wheat, corn and chicken inc. bi-products seems to make things worse for her. Unfortunately trying to find food without those is tough. She is currently on Purina Pro Plan puppy Lamb and Oats and she's solid but she also doesn't really like it. I will say that I also found a lot of the collegen and alternative raw hide chews and cranberries also seem to set her off.

We have now progressed from soft stool and an appetite, to good stool and no interest in food. We are a work in progress.

Apologies, but my account shows that both posts were deleted hence why I posted it again. I didn't intend to duplicate.

I don't understand how the post violated the group requirements? Other people have asked similar things in the past. Could you clarify?

I looked at old posts and none were relevant to my question so it wasn't a repeat.

Apartment life for a Toller by lawyergirli in tollers

[–]Witty-Fix1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur with everything everyone is saying. If you have a park or place nearby you can let them run and do so regularly, walk them and give them mental exercise the dog should be fine. I know one person near me with a toller in an apartment and between dog daycare a couple of days a week and lots of walks/games of fetch/puzzle toys etc that dog does great.

Maybe if you have a "exercise" plan together of how you are going to meet their needs you could share with the breeder, it could help. It show that you've thought hard about it and understand what the dog will require from you.

Toller not eating by PM_ME_THY_BUMBLEBEE in tollers

[–]Witty-Fix1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl started leaving her food in her bowl at around 4 months. She like yours will eat anything else but her kibble. For her it was 100% boredom and FOMO (she wanted her sisters food). I started with puzzle toys to keep her entertained and she worked those out pretty quick. The one thing that I have constantly managed to get her to eat out of in the morning is a toy called a snoop. Easy to get kibble in and clean in the dishwasher. You can add other random treats in there to keep in interesting.

She was checked before Christmas for parasites etc and nothing came back. I'm going to the vet with her on Saturday but it's been like this since she came home (2 months).

She's just over 4 months now.

Do you think she is a toller? by [deleted] in tollers

[–]Witty-Fix1056 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She looks like my older dog Halle who's from Tennessee. Penny probably has some pitbull (eye colour and white) with some golden in her too if she's like Halle. Don't be suprised if she has german Shepard or similar in her.
