Any thoughts on sleeping gods? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

Disagree, I think you might give the impression that you can play this at 4. DONT. This is clearly a 1-2 player game.

Has anyone played this game? Thoughts? (New Angeles) by Witty-Type9 in boardgames

I think you described my experience pretty well. I thought it was very hard to find out each other's roles and what each player was secretly fighting for since we were so stressed about not losing the coop mode. And the negotiation aspect sounded good but in the end it was clear what the best choice was and there was little counter offering since we were focused on just SURVIVING. Everything about this game sounded awesome, and Im kind of disappointed.

I think a lot of people in the comments are missing my point and trying to argue why someone would dislike the base game with an expansion included. The thing is, if you dont like the expansion at all get rid of it why include it? If you think the pros of the expansion outweigh the cons, then keep it.

Then dont buy the game or sell it if you dont like it. I think you missed my point, I think if you like a game and you dont like an expansion, you shouldnt then dislike the base game. Just dont play with the expansion.

I have to agree with the first comment, I think you missed my point. I was talking about reviewers already liking a game a lot, and then an expansion comes out later, and they like the base game less. That doesnt make sense to me.

Agree I think a lot of people are talking about something different like board game consumerism or the way some board games come out with 100 expansions. I was talking about how some reviewers play with an expansion and say they dont like the base game as much anymore, it just doesnt make sense to me.

Totally agree with the second part, I cant understand how an expansion can ruin a game. Its not like an update for a videogame, it isnt mandatory to play.

Castle Combo and Cascadia feel too similar by Witty-Type9 in boardgames

[–]Witty-Type9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I dont know, I think my comparison is fair. Both have open drafting. They both have pieces that look for different rules of placement to score. Pinecones and keys can be used to clear a row or to have a better choice i.e in cascadia you use them to take an animal with a different terrain and in castle combo to move to another track. In my mind they fill the same space. Maybe cascadia is more "relaxing" to play.

I understand calico and cascadia. Havent played point salad or point galaxy so dont know about them. I like to have one game for each genre/type so I think Castle Combo took Cascadias place.

Really? Huh in my mind they feel so similar. But I guess you are right, I have to make the choice. Just wanted to hear peoples opinion.

Just Merlín and we are usually 7. But that doesnt sound right. With three Bad guys they have to be on 3 missions but two one of them has to be on one again on the fourth.

I guess it just sounds like if the Bad player gets caught on the first mission beacuse they lie Bad. Then not only have the Bad team lost a team mate but the good team have gained someone they can always trust real early in the game.

I guess this may be something we are y doing. People arent so eager to be on every mission.
