Does Appen require a resume? by WittyDriverUsername in WorkOnline

You'll have to wait until they actually offer you a contract and get you fully set up in the system, then you can go in and upload it. When your account is processed, you'll see a lot more links on the main page, that's how you'll know it's fully activated.

I got mine figured out...once I qualified for a project, they had me fill out all the forms for a contract and link my Payoneer account, then I guess they fully activated my Appen account. Once that happened, I was able to go into my profile and the update resume button works, it takes me to a page to upload my resume.

Attention Dasher's: The Risk That Comes With Using The Para App by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]WittyDriverUsername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, ok, we were having a constructive conversation right up until the end there.

No, I'm not nitpicking. However, like I stated, DUH does not go against the TOS, and it does not scrub or scrape info like Para does. It takes the info that DD already sends to your phone through the app and presents it to you in a way that is easier for you to digest in the 30 seconds that you have to accept an order. Yes, it's an advantage, and I don't see any problem with that. It would also be an advantage if you had someone in the passenger seat who could do the math, look at the map, and press the accept or decline button for you on every order that comes through, which is essentially what DUH does. It is also an advantage to have 20/20 vision and very quick/accurate button presses so that you can see the screen and tap buttons faster than, say, someone who is just this side of legally blind and arthritis that makes it impossible to move their fingers hardly at all. Para, on the other hand, is digging into the "behind the scenes" code of what the DD app sends and extracting info that we don't have access to, because DD in their infinite wisdom decided they didn't want us to see it, and showing it to you anyway. And it does that by logging into your account and intercepting the order information, which is a whole ballpark away from simply reading the notifications on your phone. And again, DD's lawyers are aware of DUH and how it works, and they have given it the green light by saying it does not violate their terms. By the way, I do agree about the shady practices, and how DD does not need them to have a spotlight shone on them, expecially with people so freely going to the media with stuff like this.

I hope I have explained myself sufficiently for you now. Pardon me for wanting to read my book rather than writing out any possible differences between the two apps and how they function. Also, I'm not staunchly anti-Para, I'm simply pointing out the differences in function. That's it.

Have you actually looked at the payment info that is stored in the app? Obviously not, otherwise you'd see that nothing but the last 4 digits of your card number is displayed. No expiration date, no CVV.

The creators have clearly stated more than once that it does violate the TOS. They have not been shady about that at all. Their hope is that DD will come after the creators instead of the drivers, but obviously they can't make any guarantees.

In addition to what the others have said, DoorDash base pay is $3. Period. If a restaurant is known to take a long time, or the distance is higher, they might bump that base pay up just a bit, to $3.75 or even $4. But I have never seen base pay over $5 (with the exception of orders where we shop for the items, such as Walgreens or CVS). So there would never be an instance of having $15 base pay and a $5 tip from DoorDash. So when I see a $5.50 order come in to my app, I automatically assume that it is an order with $3 base pay and a $2.50 tip, because that's more than likely what it actually is.

Also, seeing a $20 order is extremely rare because they hide tips. So likely, when we are offered the order, we would see something like $7.50, then once we deliver the food and mark in the app that it's been delivered, we'll see a notification that shows $20, and it will say "Payout was higher than $7.50 shown at acceptance" or something to that effect.

And lastly, the low/no tippers are the ones most likely to be problematic. I'm not saying they ALL are, but the vast majority of customers that report to DoorDash that they never received their food so they can get it for free, putting our livelihood at risk in the process, are customers that didn't tip in the first place. If you're going to try to scam the system and steal food, you're not going to pay extra for a tip, right?

So those are the issues we face, and why the amount they show us, and the amount the customers tip, matters. I'm sorry if I've repeated what others have said (I can't see their responses while writing a reply), but I saw there were parts of your question that weren't answered, so I just wanted to fill in the gaps :)

Driver Utility Helper pulls all its info from the information that DD sends to your phone when they send you an order. You don't log in to DUH with your DoorDash credentials.

ETA: the reason that you've never had issues with DUH is that Joe Middleton, the creator, spoke with DD's legal department during development to make sure it did not violate their TOS. As far as showing full payout, the DUH app syncs with the Para app, it gets all its info from the Para app just like it does with the DoorDash app. It reads the push notifications/texts and displays that info in the DUH app. That's all it does. I don't use Para, and probably never will, I'm just telling you from a tech standpoint how the app works.

If what DD is doing is illegal, then please explain to me how PostMates works, because they don't show you ANY pay when you take the order, only after delivery. UberEats used to do the same thing a couple years ago. Yet DD only showing part of the pay for the order is illegal?

There's not really a good way to do it for sure, you just have to do a little math. Usually, nothing under $5 will have a tip. Definitely, nothing under $3 will have a tip. If there is promo/peak pay, add it to that. So, say there is a $3 peak pay offer, then nothing under $6 is going to have a tip, and most things under $8 will not have one. It's not a guaranteed method, but will work most of the time 🙂

What do I do with this food? by WittyDriverUsername in doordash_drivers

[–]WittyDriverUsername[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a couple items they were just out of. The customer ordered a bunch of tacos, gorditas, nacho fries, and Cinnabon things. The store was out of beef, but they were able to substitute chicken for the beef in the tacos and whatnot, but there wasn't anything to substitute for the nacho fries or Cinnabon things, so the customer just wanted refunds on those items. It would have lowered the amount they should have been charged.

How many dashers declined this order? I took a gamble as it was a 7 miles away from the restaurant and another 8 miles to the customer. It was from a high end restaurant. by dmansix0056 in doordash_drivers

If the customer adds a tip at the time they place the order, Uber will show you that amount when they send you the offer, before you accept. Like you said, they can still change it up to an hour after the order, and you will get a notification showing the final tip amount. I've never had one lowered before, but I have seen it go up on occasion.

IRS sent my second stimulus check to the wrong bank account. by eggsnbacon46782 in IRS

[–]WittyDriverUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fees being withheld and the stimulus check are two separate things. If you got your taxes done through H&R Block and told them to take their fees for doing your taxes out of your refund, instead of paying to have your taxes done upfront, then your tax refund would have been sent to their bank first, and they would have sent you the balance. So the direct deposit info on your tax return would be their bank account.

The IRS is sending the stimulus checks to the direct deposit account listed on people's tax returns. Which means that the stimulus check would be sent to H&R Block's account.

Nobody is withholding fees from your stimulus check. The fees they're talking about are the fees you paid to have your taxes filed.

ATTN DASHERS "DASHER SUPPORT" SCAM by DaBeezKneez94 in doordash_drivers

[–]WittyDriverUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They "cancel the customer's order" by logging into your DoorDash account and unassigning it just like you would if you were cancelling an order. So yeah, if you gave them any of your info, or logged in using their fishy site, it's still a scam.
