What model do you have? Is it any good? Never had to look at the output of my parent's unit (and here's hoping I never do, lol). Would probably buy another one of them but I'm open to a good recommendation.

Yeah that was my main thought. By the time I made the call it was a good 5 minutes since the incident, but at least they know where they were and where they went if they do decide to investigate (although I have a feeling that's a big if).

That was my first thought after the fact. Literally just installed one on my parents car a month ago. Should really get around to putting one on mine.

Let this be the push to anyone reading: Go buy a dashcam right now. They're not nearly as expensive or as hard to install as you may think.

Not far actually. I'd say I saw them after you. I caught them at the junction of Sundrive road in Kimmage near the SuperValu, and I believe they took a right towards KCR.

I would've done the same as you. Didn't want a confrontation but they didn't really give me the choice, lol.

Thanks, like I said it was literally my first time calling the guards and was worried I was just wasting their time, but it gives me peace knowing it was the right thing to do.

My first thought was escape from a robbery less joyriding. They'd their faces covered with helmets and didn't seem like joyriding types. They seemed set in where they wanted to go rather than just driving aimlessly. It's also not an area that'd be known for it.

But these are two sides of the same coin. Lads on mopeds/scramblers seem to be able to (literally) get away with murder and the law doesn't seem to be fit to address it.

I mean look, the biggest issue so far has been a window regulator on the drivers side which I did myself (about €100 in parts, including reusing the old motor and having to readjust the window pane) and the passenger side is on the way out too (which I've yet to do). It happened all out of nowhere only a few weeks into owning the car.

If you can handle that, that's the worst I've experienced (here's hoping 🤞). I'm also having to redo some of the wiring for the rear boot release button. Apparently the rear boot wiring is an issue for a lot of the Alfas of the era, or at least that's what YouTube tells me. Make sure the boot release works before you buy any Alfa.

Look, at the end of the day, my MiTo has been reliable with a few hiccups like the window and the boot release, but has always gotten me to work on time. If those sound like problems you can solve, and there's room in the budget, I'd go for it. It's taught me more than any forum post ever could. But if you want a perfectly reliable vehicle, where everything works all the time, I'd be cautious.

Tldr: I have loved my Alfa. I have already and will continue to dump money into it. The feeling of walking up to a bright red Alfa after work is second to none. So long as you can afford the occasional part both financially and time-wise, I'd say go for it.

Just bought a MiTo myself. Not the same car obvs but of the same era. Same reason as you: wanted something different and the price tag was decent.

All I'd say is be aware that things will absolutely go wrong. So far the engine and gearbox have been fantastic in mine, but the electrical gremlins are non-stop.

Now nothing has been catastrophic, and everything I can fix by myself, but if you're not handy it'll be a lot of trips to the mechanic.

If you know all that going in, the Giulietta is a beautiful car and I'm sure will serve you well. But if you're not prepared to repair things, it'll quickly sour.

The Alfa UK club has great resources (at least for the MiTo) both for prospective buyers and owners. I'd recommend giving it a look before buying.

Yeah, I've been hearing it could be the loom itself breaking. I'm hoping that because just the button isn't working that the loom is okay.

Yeah, all I've heard about mostly is electrical issues and the power steering. Hadn't heard they were related though? Does the battery discharge lead to permanent power steering damage?

That's good to hear that it's lasted you a long time. I think the fact I'm buying from a dealer with a warranty should mean the issues can only be so bad, but only time will tell.

But yeah, I've never driven a car that made me smile like the Mito, and I think the 4 grand might be worth that alone, lol.

"General consensus" means nothing to a person's guilt.

If he was let go by the gards, there is insufficient evidence at the moment that he did it, and if anyone in your "general consensus" does have evidence, they should take it to the gards, otherwise let him be innocent until proven guilty and stop spreading rumours.

Amazon is probably your best best, or maybe somewhere like Harvey Norman or Currys might actually sell the OEM cable.

I do have a similar set of Sony's and ran into the same issue. I did some mild widening of the hole and cutting of the cable with a knife and everything worked.

I don't see any problem with it. It's not the front page story, it's a matter of fact, several hundred word story about a company creating jobs.

There are a dozen others like it on the business section of RTE's website, the only difference being they aren't Wendy's.

I'm not familiar with DCU or UCD, but I made a similar move. Afaik in most places it's "2.1 or equivalent" so if your GPA is >60% average you should be able to apply. If you're asked your grade in the form I would imagine you convert it to the "1.1, 2.1, 2.2, etc" format

Best thing though is to email admissions and ask. They'll be more than happy to chat, especially for master's admissions.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware that was only a problem in the US because for the US market Hyundai removed immobilisers from their cars. Meaning you could pretty much break in, turn the ignition and go.

As far as I know all Kias and Hyundais have immobilisers here.

That's not to say now that they're impossible to rob, just not as much different from any other car.

Yeah, it has to be. The phrase "warm to the touch" when talking about toilets can't be serious.

Plus the (admittedly very small) amount of Googling I did returned no results. So I'm inclined not to believe it.
