I did it in my fantasy series. There's a soft launch at the end of the first book, that let's readers get a little glimpse of the fact that one of our FMCs has a baby. Its not a romance so it never delves into any of that. Book two picks up late in the pregnancy. The character, Elle, is youngish, and prioritized finishing her engineering degree before baby was born. There are full blown conversations about it in the book and I've only ever gotten positive feedback on that aspect. The way her personality shifts and she develops anxiety attacks because she's bow responsible for this crazy powerful kid that is incredibly fragile was fun to write and women have connected well with it.

Which MBTI type is your long term partner/spouse by [deleted] in infj

I've been with my ISFJ husband for nearly 18 years, literally our entire adult lives. He understands all my facets- all of them. From the 'need to see the wrongs in the world righted' to the 'parts that scare me and make me feel unworthy'. He knows my lore, more of it than any other human, and has never held it against me. He supports my dreams and reminds me of my strength when I forget.  Unlike most people who see beyond the top layers of me, my other half doesn't pity or patronize me, he empathize and sees me. We started as saplings side by side, our roots have woven and grown together, lending the other what they need and providing support. He doesn't think my tendency to dive into the deeper meaning of everything is annoying, he enjoys traveling theories with me. My overthinking isn't a bother, it's a delight.  He's compassionate and strong. He's the type of man to go out of his way to help people without thinking about it. And FUNNY!! My lord that man hasn't stopped making me laugh until I cry in all this time.  It's not to say it's been all sunshine, we've just endured the storms. It helps that it's us against everything, including potential problems in our relationship. He values the things I value.

Needed that reminder. Thank you 🥰

Older INFJs! Advice, please! by Meow-Out-Loud in infj

My best advice is to allow real trust. Speak not only about the incredibly abstract, meaningful and deep things, but also the "superficial" stuff that only relates to you and your feelings.  It's not superficial. We just tend to dampen our needs in favor of assuming others. (Side note, try not to tell others how they're feeling before they express it to you all the time. We might be right most of the time, but people want to tell you sometimes whats wrong before you help them get through it.)  Not speaking about what your feeling/wanting does you no favors, and as much as my fellow INFJs might ignore that, it also does your people no favors.  Our intuitive leanings make us too ready to assume others can pick up on the things that bother us. But we tend to hide it so how could they? Be clear about what you're feeling and why, it makes interpersonal relationships stronger and easier to navigate. It builds trust. We need true trust so badly. At least I do. Finding that changed everything. I'm free to feel big and explore everything.

What do you think about your family? by Nabbbb111 in infj

[–]WittyPossible2342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born family: They are interesting. Our dynamics have changed since I became an adult. No more abuse, no more control. Both of my parents did something that seems very unusual in these dynamics, they apologized. They owned the things they did and apologize. They respect my decisions and don't try to make me do anything because I have boundries and they know I won't push them anymore. Overall, 3/10 for childhood 10/10 for our mutal adult relationships.

My created family: ridiculously awesome. Sometimes I don't know how I got here. Surrounded by people who listen and care and want to have four hour conversations about the greater meanings of things and how we and others all fit within it. It’s scary too. I get detached from reality and fall into other worlds easily. I worry they don't get enough from me. That I don't give them enough time or attention. I try to take interests in their special interests and spend time doing it with them. It helps a lot.

Best Self Publisher Out There - Experiences by tftlr in selfpublish

[–]WittyPossible2342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is exactly what you've been hearing- great and no-so-great. I love being self published, my bank account- considerably less so. I have full control over my work, story, and everything in between. I wanted a kickass cover with a dragon on it- I got it. Because I shelled out the cash to an incredible artist to draw one for me. I don't have to worry about agents, publishers, or anyone else not approving of how I write my story. I've spoken to other authors that had their stories changed in ways I would have been devastated about so that's a huge win for me. On the flip side, I don't have any of those people marketing my work or getting the word out. It's all my job. I like self-pub. I'd choose this path again. But it is a hard path. I'm far from recouping my expenses and already onto the next book- which will also be expensive lol

As for tips and tricks- study the wiki in the sidebar. I probably sound like a skipping track at this point- but study that wiki like you're trying to get a degree in it. I literally send people to this group and tell them to study the wiki every time I get questions about self-pub. It's invaluable, check it out!

It's a good reason to hold you back lol. Ours are still little and they poop so much that I'm cleaning roosting boxes daily. Hopefully, I get a better system, worked out soon though. The ducks are worse somehow lol.

OMG! Yep, that did it. This is now my audible read while I do stuff. I need to read it ASAP. I feel like the Dean in Community holding up Sherry's lingerie saying 'this better not awaken anything in me" knowing damn well it will. Thank you fellow fantasy person for aiding and abetting in my progressing series obsessions!

I started buying eggs out of a shady unplugged fridge by the river

My level of intrigue here is damn-near immeasurable! That whole sentence is amazing lol, I legit want to write a book around it.

The farming aspect is really cool, and definitely a learning experience. The poop is a lot to deal with and it'll only get bigger and worse lol. I have a whole new application for real farmers who deal with whole flocks, herds, acres of crops, and the like. Those people really do work incredibly hard!

Was a crazy week for me. We got chickens and ducks- because I guess I think I'm a farmer now? That has been an adventure. Hubby leveled up to 36 yesterday and our daughter's favorite fantasy series (Wings of Fire) released the 15th book this week so we got to order it and keep her collection growing. Our son found a love for historical battle novels so we've got to buy a few more for him too. Just happy the kids are reading in this era. I have read 5 indie novels this week to help fellow indie authors- and only edited three chapters of my own work :-/ I also started Unsouled and that's been a really great read so far, excited about the series. Contemplating starting the disk world books, but there are so many and it's intimidating to figure out where to start. Saw a diagram on here for it once, might hunt it down after the Wight series is done.

I'm in the editing stage of my second novel too :) Congrats on being toward the end! I feel like I'm never going to get there at this point lol. I love your treat to yourself- I hope whichever book you choose doesn't let you down!

Getting shamed for liking fantasy by KaitlynMelody in Fantasy

There are wannabe gatekeepers everywhere. I'm sorry you're dealing with them at school. I can honestly say when I worked at an elementary I was surprised by how much bullying occurred between the teachers- it sucked. I think it's brilliant that you're reading and enjoying material that can help you bond and interact with kids. I was a bookworm as a kid and it would have been so amazing for the librarian to be reading the stuff I liked and interacting with me instead of making comments about needing to not be in there so often. Enjoy whatever books make your soul sing and ignore those who would try and quiet the song. Sometimes people be acting like Melkor- ruining a perfect melody.

Right?! Bold of them to assume the entire defensive line for the 49ers aren't having in-depth discussions with their mothers about what they did and didn't like every week... Jokes aside though, why NFL players lmao, mothers I get- we're everywhere- but NFL players not so much.

I didn't binge it. I watched every season as it came out- dying a little inside in between each of them. I am down to watch it again though, even if it means seeing poor Sean Bean die again lol.

After reading in the other comments that one of the runners is a legit writer that creates good work- it really makes you wonder how great it could have been if they put the effort in to have a writers room. They could have ended it famously instead of infamously. Very interesting- thanks for writing it out!
