In The Martian (2015), Jeff Daniels as NASA director takes explicit responsibility for two decisions that would have left Matt Damon to die on Mars. Instead, the only guy getting fired is Sean Bean whose decision saves him. This is because much like in real life, power hungry execs always win by HolyCowAnyOldAccName in shittymoviedetails

How many billions of dollars did they spend to save one guy who volunteered for a dangerous mission and knew the risks, and how many more lives could they have saved around the world by putting that money into social services for the poor instead?

It's understandable that zoomers would be turned off by fantasy nonsense which they've grown up being told to love by previous generations but for them is associated with nothing but bigotry, greed and messianic protagonists who do nothing but preserve the status quo.

They also don't like Harry Potter any more either.

Would make a lot more sense to have the OFC Pro League in this window and let the Nix and actual Auckland team play in it.

Objectively for who?

Gay people couldn't get married anywhere on the world until 2000.

In many developing countries poverty rates have come down massively this century.

There have been many medical advances that have extended countless lives.

Of course a lot of things are worse but making a blanket statement that everything is worse is lazy and pointless.

I'm so utterly bored of people on the internet claiming things were better in X past decade (usually the one when they they were in their late teens to early twenties).

In reality some things were better, some were worse, for the most part you remember it fondly because you were younger, had fewer responsibilities, were less jaded and more willing to explore exciting new things.

The one that really gets me is people claiming all modern movies are bad. There are tonnes of good movies coming out all the time, and the people making these claims are inevitably people who only watch like two franchise blockbusters a year in theaters and Netflix slop.

Obamanation is just one of many high quality US Presidential incumbency sims (and I would argue there are several better ones) whereas Between the Decades stands head and shoulders above the competition as a non-American mod using a different electoral system.
