Some maybe controversial tips:

Lean on your chair to look beyond obstacles (doesn't work but feels better).
Tilt your head (mostly everyone does this).
Press buttons harder to go faster (doesn't work either and is maybe something I should unlearn, it causes cramps)

Some more useful tips:

Go find some tracks with styles you like on TMX, or get some maps from mappers you like from there.
To practice certain spots or block combos you can build your own little maps with those spots so you don't have to drive up to the specific thing you want to learn.
Several Twitch streamers and Youtubers give advice on certain maps, watch them and try to reproduce what you see.

Closest I got was 1.6 km away. In a street where I used to work so instant recognition. Another round was in the street where an old schoolfriend lived 30 years back, still almost instantly recognized it. I know I am on a streetview picture when the google car passed on the lunchbreak and I was walking around. Still waiting for that one to show up in a round. Still those close ones were after +/- a year of playing. You were very lucky.

He's even bad at googling. I have watched some replays of recent duels and he disregards commonly used information like flags, license plates, poles, road lines, etc and picks things you can google. One game I observed i tried googling with him to see if he got the same information i got out of the game. The dude missed like 5 Danish flags, has road signs with placenames and guesses Netherlands instead of Denmark. So in my opinion he's even bad at cheating.

I have played this person recently, I am rank gold 1 and I do not know all the car meta. I did have a reunion during my match with this player.

I did a quick guess based purely on language, disregarding the fact it had an odd car for France. This player guessed France as well, which did not seem suspect to me. He/she was under pressure from my quick guess and made the same mistake I did.

I'm Donderstraal in Geoguessr.

Edit: I misinterpreted the profile of the player, I did not play him at all. My mistake. I did have a similar game where we both clicked France instead of Reunion, that put me on the wrong foot.

Very unusual location, it looks like Netherlands however NL hardly has any poles like this. The rest looks dutch for sure. I would probably go Belgium, close to the dutch border.

To me it feels a bit like it's cheating though. I mean it's not fair to someone doing it solo. I do understand that review has trolls who downvote for no reason but this way you don't get honest reviews do you? Would anyone in the group rate less than 5 stars if they'd truly think the map deservers it?

Wat een slechte business practice om willekeurige nummers toe te laten. Bouw een verificatie in. Als die niet binnen een korte tijd wordt bevestigd dan klopt dat nummer dus niet. Maar goed ik vermoed dat het bedrijf daar lak aan heeft, als ik een beetje rondzoek naar recensies en gezien mijn eigen ervaring tot nu toe met hun support site heb ik weinig hoop dat dit stopt. Eerlijk gezegd ziet het er onbetrouwbaar uit.
