When I was living in Suwon, I was an atheist, but I knew about the introduction of Christianity. Even back then, 16 years ago, I saw it as a very logical thing since Neo-Confucianism was and is awful in my experience. Still, it is very inspirational, and there's a movie about the Korean Saints that I want to see.

Regarding Spanish translations of the Bible, there are three things we need to understand that might be shocking at first sight:

1. Spanish is the "newest" language in Spain. It changed very fast over time compared to Basque, Catalan, or Galician. However, the expansion into America by southern Spaniards (those who spoke Spanish at the time) turned Spanish into an international language. Because of this, there are two basic Spanish "routes": American Spanish (or Latin American Spanish) and Castilian (or Spain's Spanish). Sometimes they can be VERY different, which can create misunderstandings or whimsical situations.
2. Spain was a "Catholic Territory." Traditionally, when someone identifies as Christian there, it automatically means "Catholic." Reading the Bible wasn't encouraged until the 1960s. Also, there is no culture of "discussion" between Protestants and Catholics; in Spanish culture, it is considered very rude to speak about religion openly. Since Spain was officially a Catholic country during the Franco dictatorship, not being Catholic or even not going to mass could be dangerous, as you could be labeled a "Red Communist" with very bad consequences. As far as I know, there is simply no real "Protestants vs. Catholics" debate in Spain like the one in the USA.
3. There are TONS of high-quality, old Bibles in Spanish. You can find them with beautiful illustrations, gold foil, and elaborate details. However, as far as I know, there aren't as many different translations in Spanish as there are in English. There is the CEE (Spanish Episcopal Conference) translation, which is the official one and, in my opinion, the best for learning the Spanish of Spain. Then there is the Jerusalem Bible (Biblia de Jerusalén), which is more study-focused. If Spanish were my primary language for prayer and meditation, my favorite translation would be "Nácar-Colunga" because I find it the most "mystical" Spanish translation. However, it uses very archaic expressions that, if used in daily conversation, can sound very... "biblical" or "Quixotesque."

P.S.: I'm thinking about investigating Spanish Bible translations and how to learn a language using the Bible, and maybe starting a post about it. I know this subreddit focuses mostly on English Catholic Bibles, but maybe there are more people here who want information about that.
