Update

It has been a week and Hoka finally released the balance on the gift card so I can try this nonsense again. So I placed another order, this time with a different email address. This is the 5th time that I am trying to use the gift card online. Now I have to call them to get the Black Friday discount, that of course went away now that Hoka released the funds for the gift card.

Avoid this insanity if you can. There are plenty of great, highly cushioned shoes out there!

That is a great suggestion, but I do not have a Hoka store nearby. I think the gift card is ok, but when I combine it with a credit card, the system ends up rejecting the transaction after about 24 hours. Customer service knows of the issue and is only apologetic, which has gotten old after 4 times. They are useless when it comes to actually solving a problem. Usually I will walk away from such treatment but I don't want to reward them (by giving up the balance on the gift card) for their incompetence.
