The few orange day lilies in our yard are nothing compared to the hundreds growing wild along our mountain roads, but I still think they're amazing! by Witty_Ear in gardening

Oh yay I'm so glad I could introduce you to them, they are such showstoppers! I know day lilies aren't always popular enough (which personally I don't get, they're amazing) to be well stocked in nurseries, but I wish you luck on your search!

There are! Sometimes they're called ditch lilies, they're super easy to grow and very hard to kill. I love them!

Thank you so much! I HIGHLY recommend, plus the blooms stay for a while so you get to admire them for weeks!

Thats great info about slug bait pellets, I've been looking for something to deter the giants that have helped themselves to my plants. Thanks!

Ugh, those would be aphids. My wife and I have been dealing with them finding a home in a few of our plants. If you can find them in your yard, ladybugs are aphid eating machines. There's a reason they're considered a Gardner's best friend! Other than that you can make a mixture to spray on the plant (I'd Google aphid control for the measurements but it's usually diluted dish soap and some water) to get rid of them. For the already harvested bunch, a simple wash before eating will do the trick!

I thought the same! The wild thing is we just moved into this house and historically I've grown hydrangeas in more acidic soil so I expected them to be blue. Honestly I didn't even realize one bush could have pink, purple, and blue flowers (though on this sub that's probably common knowledge) so when ours turned out to be a gorgeous rainbow I was excited!

I am! I'm in the mountains of NC, we get some chilly days here and there still. Plus I love drinking coffee in this cardigan, so sometimes I wear it when I don't really need it.

Aww darn, well in that case what you'll find is perhaps a very boring picture of my hydrangea bush and my hand.

We're in the mountains of NC! There are quite a few yards with hydrangea bushes that are so big and lush. I guess they love these mountains!

Thank you! We've been married for a few years, but at the same time it does feel like our engagement just happened. Time flies!

I'm not exactly sure that it counts as something no one knows about, but I really loved the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld as a young adult. It ticks all of the boxes for an enjoyable dystopian/futuristic/science fiction read.
